The point in my post was simply you posted a random ass response in this thread....

Anyway, I'm curious if anyone has anything else to offer? I have, on my parts list for my build, a set of DSS rear axles. They run like 1800 dollars but they say they are worth the money..... so I don't know.

theres gotta be a similarity between these rear axles and another set from another mitsu somewhere. outlander, endeavors, evo 4's evo 3's..... something.

Just FYI, since there was a whole bunch of talk about mushrooms, and not the good hallucinogenic kinds either. This is the trick I always use to get axles out of the hub. I cant remember if the rear's have a little indentation in them or not though so it may not work.

Invest in a air chisel,

and a taper chisel attatchment.

After you unfasten the knuckle from the lower control arm and undo the axle nut, stick the chisel in the indentation on the axle and let that basterd rip. 95% of the time its coming out. Just keep it under control, air hammer pocks are not the same as slotted or drilled rotors.

ehh i got one, pb blaster and air hammer for over an hour. no mushromming, but also not budging. now that its off the car i'm hoping my 20 ton press will make it happen. if not, its off to a good local parts store that offered their 50 ton press services to me. i'll keep everyone posted on how i do with this "axle removal" lol.

o g'z btw i meant cv joint.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand it cracked i'm going to be officially on a scavenger hunt to find this axle now.

So is everyone looking for a replacement for O.E. use or an "upgraded" axle?

o.e. brother. right now i'm a victim of rear axle/hub freeze. and my car will basically be sitting up on jackstands till i find one of these axles that you CANT FIND ANYWHERE. i have about 7,000 in this car all together.... not good at all.

Eddie Rosado

i think the company would sell a high amount of units if they provided just o.e. replacement units as the cv joints only.

alright, drive shaft shop is officially the 2g savior.

Message:regarding this product: 650HP Axle Bar/Outer CV Upgrade--(you install your inner c.v.\\\'s)--MIR3 is there any way that you can supply the cv joint by its self, and not high performance. just a stock equivalent that is significantly cheaper. this is a culprit in our vehicles. and the 2g dsm community is in dyer need of rear cv\\\'s due to them freezing into the wheel bearing hubs. My company works on and sells axles and we go through a company called "Fenco". I looked in the book we have for them and they list an O.E. replacement. Try looking: http://www.fencoparts.com/index2.htm

I know this is an old thread, but does anyone know if the axles are the same length on the evo's? i know they use the same rear wheel bearing so length and spline count into the diff would be the only limiting factors correct?

Just to drop some more evo axle knowledge in this thread. I wont know for sure until I have complete axles in my hands, but here is where I am at from research on the forums and talking with DSS.

The EVO inner CV joint and stub fits perfectly into a NON-LSD 2g rear. The outer CV joint has the same spline count/diameter where it goes into the hub, 2g rear hubs and EVO hubs are the same part#. The killer for non-lsd guys is the spline count on the actual axle bar is different on the non-lsd when compared to the LSD. The LSD axle bars are direct fit into the EVO CV's, NON-LSD's arent since the spline count on the bar is different. Once I get my axles in my hand next week, I will know for sure.
