I know this is not the tranny forum but its also got other issues thanks for looking.
OK, first off the other thread with the IAC problems, pulled the Sensor and looked past the throttle blades, and OMFG there was at least 1/8 of an inch of oily build up, I am guessing from a bad PCV replaced and cleaned the TB as best as I could without pulling it, due to her being broke and such..
Anyways I also did a transmission service, consisting of pulling the tranny pan and replacing the filter, new gasket and blowing out the tranny cooler lines.
So when I pulled the pan there was a normal buildup that one would see on a RWD v8 transmission of clutch material around the magnet, but in the middle of the pan there was what looked exactly like dirt, I took it out and washed it out and ran it through some paint filters, with laquer thinner and it was im 90% sure dirt.
Also there were 5 or 6 pieces of metal chunks in her pan about the size of pencil lead you know the wood type from school yeah that was in there, I have never seen that before on any transmission.
Anyways so I service it put it all back together, cleaning the sensors and the TB worked great idle is so much better but the intake needs the be pulled because the whole intake is caked with that shit and its nasty, the transmission also shifted SO MUCH BETTER after the service I thought her car just sucked before because I dont ever drive FWD cars.
Ok this was thursday, friday we leave on a trip to laughlin for a weekend away, vegas is about 110 degrees laughlin is about 130ish its really hot down here and its 100 miles from vegas..
Let me sum up the last laughlin trip we did.
About in April we went down there just me and her im a big dude (see really fat) at about 340 pounds and shes a big gal also at about 170 so on our way down there the transmission slipped out of gear one time on the trip down and one time on the trip back, she makes the laughlin trip 2 times a month on her own this is her first time with someone in the car.
This time its me her and my other friend also the same size as me so its basicly an extra 700 pounds in the car that would not normally be there, so we get about 30 miles outside of vegas, and it happens again now I will document each time we had a problem in as much detail as I can.
1. Driving along in overdrive at 70 MPH, car starts to slow down despite pressing more on the gas pedal and the engine does not rev freely, take the foot off the gas and the RPM's dont go down either. Once we get to a certian speed, Usually around 45 or so the engine revs freely and slams really hard into whatever gear it should be in. Sometimes this happens and we have to pull the car over and almost come to a stop before the transmission catches again. After this I kept overdrive off the rest of the trip due to the heat outside and extra weight.
2. We get about another 30 miles before any problems arise, this time, car drops completely out of gear engine revs freely and when the car is slowed down to a speed between 5-45 it catches.
3. Issue is when going below 20 MPH or 2000 RPM it seems the car bucks and cuts out really really badly, It will slowly accelerate, until you get to higher RPM's then it would work fine.
Then we get to where we are going drive it around slowly a few days seems to keep happening and yadda yadda, on our last day went to have it scanned at autozone and got two codes. first is
P0120 seems to be TPS related, on my 5.0 the TPS may be working right but you have to have it adjusted to the correct voltage, is this car the same way or are they just bad?
P1782 they didn't seem to know what it meant except something transmission related I looked it up on goggle but got different results found nothing specific.
While I was there I remembered sometimes TransX works for transmission problems I figure at this point it CANT hurt? *please no hate bashing for using an additive*
Well this time I drove the car back to vegas, on the hills I kept it at 40 MPH in second gear for between 3-4k RPM depending on the grade, on flat land I was just in 3rd gear for a long time at 60, but after about 30 miles I had no issues, I decided to put it into 4th gear and it was perfectly fine, I still put it down into second for hills, get almost back to our houses, and the transmission started slipping a little bit like it would start to slip and it would catch again.
BTW I never went over 65 the whole time, engine temp stayed the same.
About 15 miles outside of town I could feel it start to slip out of 4th gear and catch again barley noticeable, then I put it into 3rd for the rest of the trip when I felt it starting to slip, I got off once we were in town and tried to take service streets to my house and grab my car.
As soon as I get off the highway it stars bucking and lurching, throw it into neutral and coast into a gas station, let it sit for a bit and the same shit was happening, it was 120 out so I was not going to wait for a few hours, I limp it to my place trade cars and take everyone home about 40 min later we get back to the eclipse and it runs fine for the 7 miles back to her place.
I am really sorry for the long read, but this is what is happening I wanted you to know whats going on and try to not play forum tag with questions.
If you have any feel free to ask thanks alot guys!...
