Im pretty sure the new ACT kits come with their own throwout bearing..
Its not the same metal bearing they used to use..
Its similar to mitsubishi's..

 

Anybody use this TOB or should I just go get the Mitsu one?

 

Mitsus are a must. roadraceengineering.com sells the kit with the OEM TOB added for the price of the kit.

 

The new ACT kits come with a plastic sleeved bearing. I bought mine from SBR though..

 

i got mine from pro street, came with act tob, it wasn't metal sleeved. it does make noise though

i asked them specefically for a plastic sleeved piece, that's what i got. Ask them if they can do somethign for you, they told me they get different orders of them, some come with metal sleeved tob's, some plastic.

 

I bought an ACT 2600 about 1 year ago and it came with a metal sleeved TOB.

 

im gonna be ordering the act 2600 this week. which throw out bearing do i want metal or plastic?

We sell only ACT recommended parts with the clutches. None of our customers have had any problems whatsoever with them.

i got the clutch from prostreet. I'm not %100 sure but I think it was plastic sleeved. Anyways, its in my car right now and its doing fine. Im loving the 2600, its taken a lot of abuse.

A metal sleeved tob can/will eat up the input shaft. No use in risking it. Just get the OEM bearing.

That doesn't mean that you may not still get a metal sleeved one from an older kit.

 

if you cant tell the difference between metal and plastic, you probably shouldnt be messing with your clutch anyway. just specify plastic from whoever you order it from and it shouldnt be a problem.

 

i have done all of my mods myself except for the clutch. For some reason the tranny/clutch scares me.

 

im not saying *you* in particular arent capable, im saying people in general shouldnt attempt something if you cant tell plastic from metal . would hate to see someone use a plastic splash guard screw to hold in a tranny

 

what? you're not supposed to use those on the tranny. I better go find some metal screws before my tranny falls out
