Well, fellow DSMers I have question about a kill that took place last night at the illegals.
Now before I begin I need to ask this question.
It seems to me that most people are scared of an AWD DSM.
Which I can see why but, in my case my car is stock other than a KN and free mods. I also have 140,000 miles or so.

Anyway, with the question I ask a 2001 Saleen s281 N/A for the MOVE
Thats what we call it down here.(which means no flagger The person with the move goes first then the other person leaves) And the guy says "hell no your got to be crazy I am not giving an all wheel car nothing we need to go heads up".
So I get upset because my cars is pretty much stock and he's in a SALEEN for christ sake. He's acting like my car is some kind of All Wheel Monster. So anyway I had already killed an lt1 and a mark vIII this night. So I was feeling pretty good and said F@#$ it and we did it. So naturally I pulled someone said 5 cars out the hole which is probably 2.5 cars out the hole or maybe 3 I launch harder than normal. So the Saleen was coming hard and he beat me by only 1 car can you belive that sh!+ one car.

That was so sad so I ask him to give me my race and he refused. Sorry V guy made me so mad That it time to start modded my car. I will show no MERCY at all to NO ONE from this day forth!!!!!!!!

Was I asking for too much by asking for just the move????
Should I have beaten this Saleen?
What kind of power does a Saleen make because I know they are lighter than GT and Cobra and he only pulled 1 car on me.

Give em hell!

A Saleen (was it a SC286) seem to have a better top end....dunno if its cause of the supercharger or what....

Here on out...just give em all hell! ;)

It was a S281 non supercharged pos overprice rustang!!!
They do look good though!!!! LOL
Well shit...I dont know man....other than a supercharger they do have other mods...maybe the weight reduction was what caught ya....

The top end power will help too though..youre stock? meaning you have aprox. 210-215 hp w/ free mods? He still has 260 hp +mods..not sure...

here, these times are about right. But sometimes this site is a little fishy with info. There is a S281 and a S281 S/C meaning supercharged. I don't know the power difference in them though but if you really wnat to know call up a Ford dealer that sells Saleen's and get the low down. Or go to a search engine and type in Saleen Mustang.

Nice race man, you'll get em. As for the S281, they are pretty much a disappointment. They were created so people could buy a low cost Saleen (all for the name, it's Like a pair of Jordans or something, hehe) But yea, the S281 wasn't a very impressive model, Almost shameful to carry the Saleen badge. However the S/C model they came out with is pretty nice, I had the opportunity to see and get in acouple of those, nice... However if you ever line up with a Saleen and see that 351 badge... I'd be weary those things got some bizalls. (S/R real nice too, but the chance of seeing one let alone lining up with one is pretty slim).

Salleen

I wouldnt sweat a saleen. The Normally aspirated models have no engine work (ie head work) done, which is what is needed to make any significant power gains on the NA's.
Mostly they have some body work and stickers and an exhaust. Mid to low 14 second car.
Blaahh...

Well, lets see
A clutch ACT 2600/ New
All (2nd gen gst/gsx) parts for a 1st gen Like Injectors,MAF,Exhaust manifold,
A fuel pump Walbro/ New
A Apex SAFC/ Used
A 3 inch exhaust/ Made from a friend with muffler shop
A Big 16g/ New
A front mount intercooler/ I got a hookup from a friend that will also make the IC piping for it.

I got a predetermined amount set at $2000 for this project.
I should fall within this budget and hope to gain high 12s

uhh?

with a big 16 and a 3" exhaust like you are talking about. If tuned properly, you could hit 11's.

"im looking forward to getting an eclipse gsx or gst
didnt know you could get into 12's for around $2k"
For 1 grand you can hit 12's in a 1g.

it should be no problem.

You can run hign 12's on the stock turbo, stock intercooler, stock injectors, 1g MAF, 1g exhaust manifold, No AFC, 2.5 " exhaust, etc...

to get the 13.3's I have now I am running:
1. ACT 2600 $350
2. UICP $150
3. MBC $free
4. 2.5" Turboback $350
5. 3000gt fuel pump $50

With a 1.7 sixty foot launch and a little more boost I hope to hit 12's next season with this setup. :)

Thats Impressive BadDSM !!!
However, I had went to the DSM shootout here in texas.
I wish i could had filmed some of these cars.
I witness some dsm's both 1gen and 2gen with frontmounts,Big16gs AFC, Exhaust not sure what size but could tell they were full exhaust and these cars were running low 14sec and some mid to high 13sec.

IN fact there was 1gen GSX with a 20g running low 13sec.

Thats horrible. I hope it was 110 degrees. What kind of traps? FWD perhaps?
Performance parts can not patch poor driving. :)

It's too bad the sr can't even look like a stock mustang, it looks more like a gt series race car. I'd personally rather have the 351, it looks like a real mustang and still gets some kick ass power

Brian

Nice kill by the way. Howcome is it that these 350HP supercharged mustangs can only run a 13.5? That's preaty pathetic. I don't even think I make close to that much power but I still manage to run a 13.3 with a puny T28 and stock sidemount on a slushbox A/T. I've seen mustangs GTs pull a low 2.0 60ft with street tires before so what's up with the times? It's not like our DSMs are much lighter. Mine weights 3230lbs from what carpoint says.

If I ever went for a Ford Mustang (I pray I dont :) I wouldn't even bother with any of these companies like Saleen, and what not... To me it's more of a "name" game, most people will think a Saleen Mustang is the greatest peice of machinery on the street... Yeah its fast and all, i'll give it that, but there pretty pricy, down here a 94 (I beleive real saleen s/c) with approx 80 thousand clicks runs for 30 thousand Canadian dollars, thats some serious serious cash... And it wont beat a stock SS/WS6 I can gurantee you that...

I dont think a Stock Talon is gonna give a saleen a run anyday, not even close (even if you get a launch, by 50 kmph hes gonna blow by you like your standing still) but if you do just a "little" work on your car, beleive me you can easily keep up with a Saleen mustang in a street run...
(Thats obviously for the S/C saleens) as for the NA saleens, I didn't even know the damn things were around....
