Hey guys i just thought i would pass along some info on the new kit that i just got for my DSM. I decided on the AMS GT35R full kit.
The quality of the parts was great and it came with just about everything that you need to get this thing going. The welds on the SS O2 housing and the SS downpipe are beautiful! I'm very happy with the kit. I do have a few minor issues with it though. The adapter plate used to adapt the 2G (SBR) mani to the T3 flange was ...ok.... but need lots of work to get it like you see here in the picture. IMO i would rather do the porting myself anyway (I've been porting heads and building race engines for 7 years so that is no big deal). Anyone else might be disapointed in it thought. The only other small issue is that the wastegate flange (the one needed to make the dump tube) was left out of the kit. No big deal i will call them in the morning and i'm sure they will send one out to me. All in all i'm super happy with the kit and i can't wait to see how it runs. :)

My mods are 7bolt stroker, ported head, stage 2 Crower cams (good for now), and a nice FMIC, AEM, 850's ...etc

The other turbo in the pictures is my Green (it is for sale now!) :)

Looks good. What was the overall cost for this "kit?" That's something most people would love to know. ;)

Also, I see you have a 2G. I know for a 1G with a turbo that size, the outlet for the turbo gets very close to the front motor mount especially if you don't already have a welded 90* elbow. Now with the addition of the adapter plate for the T3 inlet, wouldn't this be a problem? I don't know how the fitment would look like on a 2G.

Oil feed is from the head. Reason is that it is Ball bearing. BB turbos don't need or like a lot of oil pressure. it does not come with an oil filter but i'm adding one in. at least for break in.

the cost of the full kit is $2650 Yeah it is expensive but when you price it all out it is about right.

It is a precision turbo with AMS specs
I measured the inducer to be 62mm and the exducer to be 82mm!
The hot side is a precision .63 A/R
I'm sure you can change it if you need more flow.

it would depend on how your IC piping is routed. i have the buschur FMIC which is pretty much the standard for 1G piping routes... and i have this kit on my 1G. I have a 2.5" elbow welded on the outlet, and yeah, the clearance is very close. correctly clocked, i have about 1/8th" between the elbow and the mount, but it DOES clear. if you want i can go take a pic for you.

I see. You have a welded 90* though so that gives you some space to play with. For someone who doesn't have a 90* elbow elded onto the outlet (ie. just using a 90* transition hose) and using the adapter plate, they may encounter some clearance problems. :)

i'd have to study it a little more, but i'd think with a transition hose instead of welded elbow you might still be able to do it, but you might have to switch to a puller fan so that you have room to clock back the turbo a little more.

Let me change that a little. Now i'm planning on using two pusher fans in front of the Rad to clean things up a little. With this kit and the O2 housing you will not be able to fit the stock A/C fan. The wastegate take up the room there. The positioning could have been different to make the stock A/C fan work but it would be crowded.

The AMS kit is growing upon DSMers. Proven to make high horsepower, their work is beautiful. I like how they bolt up their kits and align them before sending them out. Let us know how everything works out.

Green still forsale? Price?
