A1s on national backorder

Stupid head float and crappy ass ARP studs' looks like I'm babying it to the shootout this year unless some miracle happens.

Props to E.T. Motorsports tho for being so cool and helpful.

Re: ARPs can suck my nuts

I vote duct tape is stronger than arp studs.

Side note anyone want a set.....

Re: ARPs can suck my nuts

Is that a hint of a FS I smell noob ? :D

P.S. (best of luck man, I'm sure alot of people would have loved to see that thing all out at the shootout)

Re: ARPs can suck my nuts

I'm not gonna support sbr anymore but from my understanding they also drop ship as well. I'm gonna change the now blown gasket reuse my arps and keep boost under 20psi on pump.

Re: ARPs can suck my nuts

Well if you happen to change your mind on that thought... Keep my PM in mind, they are just sitting on the shelf. They are a "spare" set I bought for a "just in case" issue.

Re: ARPs can suck my nuts

I will, appreciate the offer bud.

I'm thinking the shop cut my oring depth for a metal hg, It should be .017 penetrating oring but it seems to be more along the .001 depth lol. I'll know for sure when I pull it.

Oring, stock gasket, A1's should make for a better setup.

Re: ARPs can suck my nuts

The head is lifting so they're stretching and its blowing the gasket out.

Re: ARPs can suck my nuts

Wow! You must have some crazy cyl. pressures to stretch a ARP stud.

There is/was a company selling custom age 625 headstuds which is about the best you can do material wise. I'll see if I can track down the companies info again.

Re: ARPs can suck my nuts

Everyone I know making big power is switching to A1 studs, ARPs will stretch almost as easily as stockers ;)

Re: ARPs can suck my nuts

A1's are H-11 tool steel and come with washers made from the same material.

More guys are running "big boost" and when you combine that with even a hint of "knock"... you can't keep the head on the block.

Re: ARPs can suck my nuts

It appears that ARP is going to be releasing something soon as well but I'd rather just go with what's proven.

I know I was lifting my old arps with my 50 trim, I have a feeling I lifted the head back earlier this year on a few 40psi 70lb/min pulls in 3rd and 4th (no real damaging knock) but recently on lower boost I had an in-tank fuel line split which dropped my FP like crazy on a couple passes and i'm thinking that's what took the rest of the gasket out.

I don't know how that rumor got started, but I was just down there last week, and they've got hella inventory...

Sounds like you are making serious power! Stupid pressure ratio @ 70 lbs/min:eek:

Do you have your block O-ringed? I still would have faith in your ARP's.

Re: ARPs can suck my nuts

I have been looking at what some of the high HP Supra guys use and some use the A1s while others use custom 1/2" studs from ARP. :dunno:

In the meanwhile, I will see how well the regular ARPs work with the o-ringed head and the stock comp. gasket. Looking to run 37-38psi max. on my pea shooter. :D

Block is oringed but oringing keeps pressure inside better in a sealed system, if you lift the head off the block it's going to create an escape path reguardles.
