Installed all my new gauges and sold my profec b for an AVCR (which i'll regret).. i already have an SAFC, and installed the AVCR wires into the SAFC harness.. since i needed to get power/ground/throttlesignal/rpm/ etc... so what's the problem.. i used vampire connectors and i'm getting nothing.. afc turns on fine

The problem is with the vampire taps. GARBAGE. It is hard to get a proper signal with those things. Whenever you install an AFC you should always solder the connections. It is not the kind of thing you want to just shut off all of a sudden because a connection breaks. Same goes for the AVCR.

Give the AVC-R a chance. I have one and love it. It takes a while to learn how to use but they can do a lot. Some people write them off without taking the time to figure them out.

If the buttons were lighting up, it was probably getting power, but you probably either miswired something or there is a bad connection. Brian is right. Solder everything. It is a good practice accross the board to use.

I don't mean to sound like a spokesman for Apexi, but I have read many posts of people who used the AVC-R for a week and said it sucked or didn't work and gave up on it. There are a lot of things to setup, and it probably boils down to something not being programmed correctly. It did a great job with my T-25, but now that I have a 16G it is begining to shine. I think it would also be especially helpful for the FWD guys because they could set it to build boost slower in the lower gears helping to reduce wheelspin.

Cool.. thanks for the advice guys.. i actually re-installed it yesterday, my friend's dad took a look at it, and it was actually a bad ground with one of the scramble boost wires.. it's back in (and soldered hehe) it was worth the time though.. it's somewhat tuned right now.. but i have terrible boost creep (even with an HRC 02 eliminator) which makes it impossible to monitor boost over 5k..

You can probably lessen your creep a lot with proper tuning of the AVC-R. Try lowering your feedback settings. Also, by default the system will "learn" over several days and slowly dial in the boost. You could also lower solonoid pulse width. There are other settings to help with it too. It is complicated, but just read the manual 100 times, and mess with it a lot. Figure out what each parameter does and get it right for your current setup. You could probably eliminate any spiking (or dial it in) or creeping you have. Of course if it is horrible, you might try to correct it at the source (external gate? external dump?).

What is your setup?

right now the turbo/exhaust setup's a 16g, internal, with a 3" hahn 02 eliminator dp, test pipe, n1 cat back

i'm still waiting for a 2g manifold, and i might get a 35mm tial at the same time.. i would think that would for sure get rid of creep.. this illinois weather is making tuning a pain.. the other day it was like 20 degrees, and right now it's 52!!! it was only creeping in lower gears in REALLY cold weather.. i can understand that though.. but i'm going to go mess with the avcr in this weather, and see how everything works out

Thanks guys
