There is only 6 AWD spyders in the world. A buddy of mine owns probably the cleanest AWD spyder..... no.. the cleanest DSM that exists. Is this something you are considering doing??? Why do you ask?

Im looking to get it done, but as of yet, no luck locating a donor car for a reasonable price. If I can get the funds up maybe i can be lucky number seven.
7 existed but it got totaled. Goodluck finding a GSX. It wont be easy. Be patient on finding a donor car. You will find one here and there for around 1K-2K

On what evidence do you base this claim?

None. What evidence do you have to say I am wrong??? The only AWD Spyder in vermont, maine, mass, rhode island, new hampshire and conniticut is 1 person.

There is one here in Phoenix owned by a guy named Mario. It was in a mag a few months back. He has a little over 500 awhp in it as well. And just so you know this is an extremely expensive task you are wanting to do. The rear end parts do not just bolt over. there are undercarrige modifications that will have to be done just to make the room.

As soon as I say that you're wrong, I'll answer your question.

Gotta love the internet. You don't need evidence to open your mouth; you only need evidence to make someone else shut their's. It's almost as if the entire concept of signal-to-noise ratio has been inverted.

We are on the way to destruction. Make your time.

I'm pretty sure there are more than 6 of them roaming around the US. I've seen 2 in Phoenix alone and a buddy of mine said he's seen a third. One was Mario's sweet ride. There used to be pics of his car on www.metalmanfab.com its the shop that did the conversion and built his custom tubular manifold. The other car was silver. I'm pretty sure not everyone with one hooked up with "automotivearticles.com" to let them know that they finished a conversion.

No. I'm sorry, but if they haven't reported the car to every ricer web-site, then the car does not exist. In other words: anything that can't be verified using Google is untrue. (Conversely, everything that you can locate using Google is true.)

A good buddy of mine has one of the three awd conversions done by rre. He keeps it in Harrisonburg Va in his garage. The car is emaculate since he practically never drives it.

I like your new word. It's about halfway between immaculate and emasculated. Next time I see a non-turbo with a wide-body kit, I will use it.

There are plenty more than 6 in the world LOL
I saw 2 for sale the other month on eBay.
RRE does the conversion for around $5k + donor car.

And it does not really require that much fabrication, a bracket or two, otherwise it really does just bolt up, since the Spyder was built on the AWD platform to make it more rigid.

i actually have number 7. don't even think about paying for the swap. it's too easy to do to pay someone that much money. i did the swap myself with the help of my brother in about 6 hours of working time. check out my page at cardomain.com/ride/2315378. my car is actually going back to stock and i have all the parts you would need to do the swap if you are interested. i also have a tsi awd that is just sitting in my driveway that i was using just as misc. parts that i am trying to get rid of. i'm really in need of selling off my parts because i am trying to purchase a evo 9 mr and the dealers are only going to give me trade in on my car. so i'm taking everything off. i have a 5-speed trans, 2 transfer cases, 2 driveshafts, 2 rear ends (1 is locked up) all the axles, and 2 sets of the rear subframes, gas tanks, filler necks, and wiring for the pump. i'll cut you a huge deal if you are willing. i'll even give you my exhaust which is a custom downpipe connected to a thermal r&d exhaust (it sounds nice) i dynoed over 320 awhp with my set-up which is also for sale. i'll even show you where to drill out give you step by step instructions on how to do it yourself. you will save a ton. let me know if you are interested. even if you aren't, i'll be happy to tell you how to go about doing it yourself.

Mike at RRE will do it for $3100 if you supply the parts. Check out the 4g64 user group at Yahoo.com; someone just asked that question last week:

$3100 and you supply the parts. More if you have a pimpin trunk full of
audio crap or disco interior. More is you get the wrong year gas tank.

Hi, i didn't know the awd spyders were that rare, if you're the guy I am thinking of I was going to buy some stuff from you off ebay a little while ago but you sold everything. Just my luck:( .

They were never produced from the factory, every awd spyder started out originally as a fwd and had an awd conversion.

I had one back when i lived in New York. It is now somewhere in Texas. I know two just in North Jersey. There are at least 20 of them if not more in the nation.

Alot more then that... My buddy has an awd spyder . He did it him self is it was easy and pretty striaght forward. The only cutting and welding that had to be done was one of the support brackets in the trunk. It was in the way so he had to cut it off to change the subframe bolt to a longer one and welded it back together.

If RRE charges $3100 to install and you bring the parts i bet you he would do it for around $2000 with parts and he already has extra parts to do another spyder awd conversion.
