i just purchased a b&m short shifter, momo shift knob and boot cause mine were faded, and im wondering if anyone has any ideas on how i can keep the shift boot on the shifter, because the boot is kind of loose where it meets the shift knob. thanks alot.

pappy, thanks alot but it already came with a thing that screws onto the bottom, its just not thick enough but it looks as if its the same diameter as the coke bottle

stevo, what i meant is where the bottom of the shifter knob meets the shifter boot, that part is loose and always slips down and i need to find a way to make it stay on there

If you got the MOMO shifter/boot adapter thingy it should be OK. If its not ok get a thick rubber band, wrap it around the bottom of your shift knob. Then fit the boot over the rubber band. It should be snug.

What I saw done on the I-Club Impreza owners board was that someone had taken some rubber hose that didn't quite fit over the shift rod, slitted it down the side and put it around the rod. Then they used two zipties to secure it, and it held up the shift boot perfectly. The coke bottle cap mod looks like it'd work, but using a bottle cap is just a bit too ghetto for me ;)

I had a $75 momo cobra knob and the matching momo boot, but I sold them both. Now I have a plain black vinyl boot (the momo was red) and the new Greddy round shift knob. For $32, this greddy knod is REALLY nice. It has 3 diff shift pattern badges and weighs a lot. This is the new round one, not the older tall looking one. Just a thought. Some of you guys might want to check it out. Justin

Cheap shift knobs suck. Even though MOMO ones are expensive they are worth every penny. I have the Raptor Alcantra and I love it.
Sorry brother POE, but I have to disagree. The MOMOney shift knob is no differant than the cheap crap that you buy off of the shelf at autozone. You can find my MOMOney Raptor knob on e-bay right now;) . I have since switched to a Hurst T-handle because it is the most solid option on the market. The problem with the MOMOney knob is the same problem w/ the cheap knobs, the three allen screws that secure it:rolleyes: . I understand that they want to make it a universal fit for saleability, but please. The shifter is one thing that I want to be solid. I want to be able to lift my car with it. Not hope that the crappy little $80.00 MOMOney allen screws are going to hang on while I slam through second. Sorry to slam, but a MOMOney shift knob is on the same production line as Gucci purses and fancy Italian leather shoes.

You work for Hurst?? Tell me am I the only one out there in a manual that is using a T-handle?
Nope, tons of people use the T Handle for Manual. Especially with the 12V momentary switch. I had one in my SE-R. We are workin on a number of new Knobs

1. polished aluminum T-Handle
2. White 5 speed ball with 12V switch
3. PistolGrip Handle for Manuals
4. Titanium ball........solid.

Most of the Manual Cars that we have here have the T-Handle and the switch runs the roll control. I love that handle, it is a real positive shift. Make a 1-2 slam feel really nice....................

I have a momo shift knob on my car from the previous owner. No wonder the threads are completely stripped on the shifter. Not my fault but my problem.

MaJiKTeRRoR-- Thats what I'm talkin about. Shifter + Allen screws= JUNK. The T- handle is sweet as TNOMUD said, your first to second gear has authority:crackit:! Plus they come with threaded adaptors, so they thread on to stay. I built a short shift in a supra turbo, and due to the design it had NO threads. So I just drilled the threads out of one of the adapters to slide on to the shifter (when I say slide, I mean with a little heat and a big hammer). Then screw the T-handle on and your set. The hardest thing to get used to is the diameter of the Rod that rides between your fingers (I'm setting myself up on that one) . Easy fix though, you just take the shifter out and grind away some material on both sides so that the rod is narrow where your fingers will rest. Then make sure that you put some sanding into it for that smooth stripper-ass feel.

I didn't realize that momo shift knobs came with allen screws. I can't believe the sell the for $75 and can even make them screw on. Thats pretty rediculous.
This is true. Even the 30 dollar battery light up shift knobs from autozone screw on. I thought that they were more expensive (momo). Oh well either way that is rediculous to pay that much for a shift knob.

My momo is sick, its so completely comfortable and light as well. I might like a heavier knob, but i can't find one that fits like my one, i think i have the phantom? or the anatomico, it fits like a glove. I bang gears up and down roads pretending to have a turbo and the allen screws have not let me down once, just keep them tight and its fine. However, i had the same problem with the shift boot, it doesnt attach so it looks ghetto rigged. Go figure, u pay outta ur ass for a momo knob and it doesnt even look clean.

I'm going to make a soundtrack of my turbo for guy's like you to throw in your CD player. That way you will have the feal and the sound. All that you will need is the speed to go with.:D

My friend added diameter to his shifer by putting a couple layers of Duct-Tape around it until the shift knob fit snug... worked like a charm.. I made my own shift boot and used the stock rubber "thingy" and some zip ties to secure my shift boot to it also.. Hasn't given my any shit since I put it on.

1 fast POS, that would be awesome, i think id be happy for quite a while. Its odd though, i have an NT but when i open and close the throttle while shifting, it sounds like a weird ass BOV, i mean its just the throttle plate opening and closing (the vacuum makes the pphssshhh)but it keeps me happy momentarily now if i could just find a GS with a letter after it...
