boost leak throttle body help

I did a boost leak test today, I can hear the air passing somewhere near the throttle body. If I push down the gas the air escapes faster. I hooked up to a compressor for the test and it was slowly leaking down in pressure. I started it at about 10lbs and I could hear air in the valve cover too. I did not put the motor at TDC or anything like that. I am pretty sure the leak is in the throttle body especially since when you open it a little I can hear the air leak out more prominatly. Do I need to buy a new throttle body or are the gaskets that need replaced? I did some searching and I get mixed information.
Thanks in advance,
Mike

What does that have to do with anything?

If you can let the car be down for a little while, you might consider sending a PM to Steve (Red1991TSI) and see if he can rebuild your throttle body for you. He's a mod of the forums and does great work. Look him up.

What exactly does a rebuild include? I might have to look into doing this.

And while I'm at it, does a 1G throttle body flow better than a 2G?

1g TB is 60mm, a decent upgrade from the restrictive 2g. I just had my TB rebuilt, and all of the screws were zinc plated, the housing glass beaded, the entire unit disassembled and reassembled, new gaskets, new shaft seals, etc.

I replace the TB shaft seals with new O-rings, new BISS screw O-ring and if you want I do a FIAV block off plate. I can do the rebuild with new Chicago Rawhide seals for $10 more, but frankly I don't like working with them and won't guaranty they'll be leak free. I find the good ole O-rings work the best and seal pretty tightly. It's a little more work for me but I don't worry too much about it.

If anyone is interested, PM me.

I like the Rawhide seals better myself. :dunno:
