NOT AWESOME

I put that belt kit on a 90 Talon that I was planning to sell. Belt streched and wore on the edges. I've done/helped with 5 timing belt jobs, so it was done right. Do yourself a favor, buy a factory belt, or you'll be redoing this in 10,000 miles. I'd rather pay more for something SO critical, especially if you have ANY mods.

Just my $.02.

Do what you want, it is your car, but take it for someone that knows.

He must be talking about the na 4G63 from a 1G not a 420A from a 2G.

I wouldn't trust non OEM parts. Is it worth the $80 savings if a belt stretches or another part fails and you have to replace a head or entire motor? I think not.

Definately go OEM on the timing belt parts. The only other option concerning the T-belt I would entertain is a kevlar timing belt.

Let me reinterate my concern... ;)

I put a cheap belt on and it stretched and wore really quickly. Do yourself a favor and put a good belt on.

Or, look into doing a t-belt job again in 10,000 miles best case, a new motor worst case.

it's not a cheap belt just a cheap price i have the factory belt on there and i compared them both and they look the same it's not no thicker or wider it looks the exact same besides it doesn't have mitsubishi wrote on it . and if you want to get technical it's worth it just for the 3 pulleys alone .

Use it for the pulleys, throw the belt in the trash.

Did you miss the 2 other posts I have put in here warning you?

I BOUGHT THE SAME BELT KIT FROM AUTOZONE!!

It looks identical but is a piece of shit, there I said it

actually that's what i planned on doing was using all the pulleys and a kevelar belt but i posted this for someone who wanted to get there car up and running cheap ! if your racing the motor yes you need a good belt but for the average driver that doesn't plan on taking the motor to 8 or 9 grand it should work fine . but its the same with every thing that's made out of rubber if you don't check it it's going to adventually break or cause problems . and i did inspect the belts side by side and seen no difference in thickness or width and i do agree with about everyone here that with something that important you should use the best !! but not everyone can afford the best and this would help someone in a bind and get them going again .

Ok, well have fun rebuilding the motor in 10,000.

I had the belt on less than a couple thousand miles and it had streched so badly (causing the shredding on the edges) I had to replace it. Just because it looks the same doesn't mean it is made of the same rubber compound. Buy the cheap belt and replace it in couple thousand miles, great way to safe money and time!!

Have fun with the screwed up timing advance, knock, and funky noise coming from the timing belt. You can't get the 4g63 to run well without proper timing.

Well, I have tried.......

hahaha, your kiss your valve good bye

my friend bought one of those for his gsx like 4/5 years ago, shit stretched and it skipped teeth way before 10k, he bent a majority of his intake valves, ended up paying alot more than the $50 or so he saved

we have had great experience with the Contitech belts. They are made by the same company that makes many of the OEM ones and they offer a great value. i have seen a lot of real shit belts come through on peoples cars and as critical as the timing belt is to the DSM i would never recommend something we didn't have 110% confidence in.

I'll be installing a Contitech belt, GMB idler & timing pullies, GMB water pump (purchased as a kit on Ebay for $89), Mitsu timing tensioner ($65 from Rockville Mitsubishi), and Mitsu crank pulley ($95 from Rockville Mitsubishi) in the next week. The Ebay seller had over 1,200 feedbacks (100% positive), and he provided links with information about the manufacturers - looks like it is all OEM quality stuff. I'll post if I have any problems with it. :)

OOO this thread title literally made me cringe. I am a victim of cheap belts. New Balance shaft belt + 1k miles = snap = new head. I have spent the last week and a half (Im cleaning stuff too) and $500 replacing the mess that POS belt left me. BOTTOM LINE DO NOT BUY NON OEM BELTS!!!!!

p.s.
I hate balance shafts
