Getting the codes with the key only works on the non-turbo 2G's. You'll need an OBDII tool to read the code causing the CE light. If you can't get one, try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and reconnecting it. It will clear the ECU memory and the code causing the light to go off. If it was a temporary problem, it will stay off. If it comes back on, you'll have to read the code with an OBDII tool/datalogger.

Note: If you have the Infinity sound system, the radio may ask for a security code after you reconnect the battery. If you don't have the code, call Mitsubishi with your VIN number and they should be able to tell you.
