Ok you might remember me posting this problem a month ago. My car was shifting fine and all of a sudden I get to a red light and the car won`t go into gear. After pumping the bejesus out of the pedal I finally got it home. I looked under the car and the pushrod (from the slave cylinder) came loose from the clutch fork. I put it back into place and still no go. I bled the clutch several times, still nothing. But if you pumped the pedal you could get it in gear. The Master Cylinder is new so I replaced the Slave Cylinder. Still no go. There is a lound squeek coming from the clutch plate area when you push the pedal. Sounds like a sqeeky door hinge. And now it wont go in gear at all, unless the car is not running. If you put the car in gear and start it while the pedal is pushed the car lurches forward like your starting it without the clutch engaged. My last resort is replacing the clutch. Any ideas? If it is the clutch which one do you recomend. Keep in mind I bought the car for my girl and she is just now learning to drive a standard. I would kind of like a package (new cluth, pressure plate and TOB)

have someone mash the clutch pedal while you look at the slave cyl to see if the pushrod is moving much. It still sounds like a slave/master problem since you can pump the clutch to make it take gear.

start by bleeding the master cylinder before you bleed the lines via the slave.

that last line could have been confusing on my last post. what I meant was to bleed your master cyl before you bleed the lines the regular way.

to bleed you master, put a line wrench on the fitting that screws into the cylinder itself. bleed it the same way you would the fitting on the slave. have someone pump and hold the pedal, loosen the fitting, tighten, then release pedal. then proceed to bleed the slave. sometimes this is called "bench bleeding"

but you know the strange part about the noise is it only does it as your pushing the clutch pedal to the floor. the noise stops once it hits the floor. when the TOB went out on my other car it made a high pitch squeal the entire time you had the pedal engaged. this noise is just a faint squeak during pedal travel only.

or, the noise could just be a noisy joint on the clutch fork. I know what an F'd up TO bearing sounds like, it's alot of clunking and then the car stalls(worst case). Have a friend hit the clutch pedal while you look at the slave cylinder rod. If it moves about 1/2 to 3/4 inch, then you're good. If not, and it pisses oil in your eye, then you might want to replace the line and the slave cyclinder(check for oil on the firewall, too, thats the master cylinder, adjust and bleed everything after replacement). Check the lines as well, no one ever told me about the lines, and thats what finally went in my car, a hydraulic line got pinched and pissed all my fluid on the ground. Check all that, if thats kosher, then it could be a dampening spring on the clutch disk, if it's a stock disk, then it's very possible, the springs on my stock disk felt like they were about to fall out after I replaced mine.

I was searching and since this thread is new(and solved) and covers my problem I'll go here.
My car squeaks when the pedal is pushed in(like a door hindge). I thought I didn't lube the slave slot good enough when I did it a while ago so I sprayed it w/ lithium grease and It still squeaks. There are 2 more points that I can't lube(can't see) and thats where I think it is. I think its just more of a bother than actual problem, its the stock clutch at 39k miles.

Is the general consensus not to worry about it?

The pedal works fine but I can feel the friction in the pedal and I would prefer it smoother.

thanks
