I have a bad sway bar end link on the front of my car and I am going to try to use a diffrent setup. I found a industrial supply cataloge that carries "heim joints" or the little ball and socket type joints. They have alot of diffrent sizes and I am pretty sure it wont be a big hassel to do. What do you guys think? This is the type I have seen on most expensive aftermarket sway bars.

Heim joints or Rod Ends as there often called would be stronger and fles less but the downside is that they would not last as long. i say they wint flex as much because i tried it. I had to use 7/16" rod ends. then fitment became an issue as there is not much room in there.

well like i said i found some in an industrial cataloge and they give you all the measurments of each joint. I think i can get one that will hold about 2500lbs in the spot I nead it to go. Do you think this will be big enough? Why did yours not last that long? was it because of them being open? I was going to try and make some boots for the ends when I put them on. I might even be able to find some in this same cataloge

From what I've read in the past dirt damaged the heim joints (rod ends). You can also buy rod end seals that will extend the life of the part. I guess that the rod end would go against the sway bar. In that case also put a large washer on the other sode of the goint - it should be bigger than the rod end diameter - that way if the heim joint fails the sway bar will stay connected.

good luck

mine are not worn out yet but i have a feeling they wont last long because i could not find anything for a boot. 2500lbs should be sufficent. what is the diameter of the threads?

You will need 2 per side. one male one female. a sealed one will laast longer but it's not somethinf they are designed for so life expecentacy is not what it could be.
I used 7/16" rod ends.
