This race happened this summer but I figure I'll post it being I'm sorta bored.

Stats:

1970 Cuda 383, not sure of all mods, he bought it as it sits, has headers, x pipe exhaust, torker intake, moderate sized cam of some sort, 3.91 sure grip I beleive, 727 trans, Sublime with centerline wheels

1968 Chevelle, 350, 8.8:1 compression, Dart Iron Eagles, RPM Air Gap intake, headers, shortie dual exhaust, stock hei, holley carb, crap tune, 3.73 posi rear, shift kit, TCI 2400 stall, XE cam,212 duration @.050, B&M Megashifter , as seen in the fast and the furious, (for dramatic effect) Ugly black car, aluminum slots on the back

I had harassed my friend for a couple of months, bragging about how my car would open up a can on pretty much any on his, which I didn't really believe, I figured we'd be about equal or I'd win just because he always spins his tires. Well this bothered him so in June I think it was, he called me up and said 'guess what, I got the Cuda out and I'm coming over to your place with it so we can race.' I figured I was screwed, being thats his fastest car.
So I met him out on the highway and we lined up. I was really nervous, this being my first real race, not just stupid shit with slow cars, and the fact I *really* didn't want to get caught. Anyway, kinda brake torqued it up, we left the line about the same, he was spinning, I was not (fat tires), but we were both going about equal, he was creeping ahead slowly near the end of my first gear, so I ran it out till 5500K and shifted to second and gained a little bit of ground back, when he shifted to second. Ran it till 5.5K again but I was dropping behind now, now I was at his rear bumper and he was getting up in the r's walking away from me, so I shifted to third thinking/hoping maybe I could catch him? Well that didn't happen, I dropped behind him now by a car and when we finished I was about a car and a half/maybe 2 cars behind. I wasn't real sad about losing, considering I was really excited, and I did, what I considered, a decent loss against a much nicer car than mine.

Hey, um.. I was kinda wondering, whats the reason for the 8:8.1 Compression? Are you going to N20 It, or throw a Blower on it?
I think stock they are in the 10.5.1 Range.

Either throw a Blower on it. or Make it 12.5.1 Compression or i'll shoot you for having such a low compression Chevelle, without a blower. Not to mention, you will love the sound of the 12.5.1 makes with a light Flywheel.

Just kidding about the shooting you part. Nice death! :D

I bought the motor from my machinist, he had built it for his daughters suburban, but she decided to sell it instead. This happened to occur at the same time we discovered my original block was a pile of crap. So anyway, its a truck motor, the cam is actually an Extreme Energy 4x4 cam. The thought of supercharging it had occured to me, but I should just build a 454.

I saw the movie Highway Man but this one was about a guy that chases down his victims and then runs them over. I'm not sure if it's the same one as you are talking about.
The movie I am talking about came out 1 to 3 years ago. It stars Jim Caviezel and Rhona Mitra. The guy they are chasing is a psycho that does hit a runs. Anyway, I liked the Cuda in the movie.

Yea, with the Chevelle would have won. I hate mopars. One of my friends is in a whole family of Mopar-heads. They think Mopar > *. Its retarded, they think the 426 Hemi is gods gift to earth. He has a lightly modded '70 AAR 'Cuda and his dad has a mildly modded '70 Challenger R/T 383. They thought they were crazy fast until they went to the track with me and others. The 383 was runnign high 15's and the AAR mid-high 14's. Sorry guys, you're old muscle has been heavily overhyped
