well, i just did, at least my left front.
i finished it up, unmasked it, (i didnt even take it off, thats how lazy i was)
at about 4 feet away it doesnt look too bad, but when you get close you see the overspray and it looks SO ghetto. i might as well have gone out and bought some altezza's and a 4 and a half foot wing, along with some type R stickers and 3 sets of fog lights. i mean this looks so typical of a ricer. luckily it only took me one caliper to realize how homosexual it looked. now ill be taking it off next day i have free and going at the rotor and the caliper with some paint thinner.
if you do paint em, make sure you do a GOOD job.
-just a warning

What's the point of painting them red anyway? Is it to pretend your rotors are glowing red from heat? That's just dumb.

Brembo's are Red.

Therefore if you paint your shitty econobox brakes red, you'll stop as well as brembo's.

The previous owner of my car had painted my calipers RED, which I didn't really care about until I got NICE rims. Gunmetal Ray's rims with lots of caliper showing and blue lettering + Red Calipers = ASS.

I repainted them and the rotor hats black after attacking the crapped up krylon with a wire brush. Much better looking. 2 coats.

---

Don't you know how to MASK your spray work?

I like the red calipers just because it is nice contrast with my black car (and looks a lot better than rusted ones). I have been wanting to do this for a long time (I even bought the paint months ago) just never got around to doing it. I suppose now is as good a time as any to do it. just one question...besides the high temp paint, what else do you need? and will it still look good if I leave them on and mask around them? (ok so it was two questions).

So you are saying that if you got Brembos you would paint the calipers because they didn't match your wheels?

I paint EVERYTHING that I take off of my car. This is why I can live in NY with no rusted parts. After an install, I spray over the bolt heads, so that they don't rust either. My engine bay from the valve cover, to the transfer case, to the carrier bearing, looks brand new. Its a pleasure to work on, super clean, even better than working on a brand new car. However you have to remove, prepare, prime, and properly paint if you want it to look good. Do everyone a favor, stick with black and maybe one other color that works with the car. I've seen some nasty lime green, or canary yellow ricer oversprayed, hack job engine bays. :puke:

I really dont get what the big deal is. I think brakes that match the car look good and pull the car together as long as its done well.
I agree......I don't think its done to show off, I think its done to make your car look better. Thats why more and more new cars theses days are coming from the factory with red/yellow brakes.

I think painting your calipers look fine if you paint it the same color as your car or you paint them gunmetal or black. I will probably paint mine black when i get around to changing my brake pads. I hate calipers that are bright red or yellow on a different color car. It like wearing a nice suit with bright red shoes.

i painted my calipers blue when i had a blue laser. i thought it looked pretty good. especially better than the shitty look of rust and dirt. and i had thin spoked rims which really shows the brakes

anyone that is thinking of doing this, use HIGH temp paint. the 500 degree stuff wont cut it. it will ignite if you get them hot. 900F does the trick:)
wouldn't that be a story lol

when i bought my car the kid who owned it had already painted the calipers red. he did a nice job, i don't think it's ghetto at all.

of course you can tell all of the above by this wonderous pic!
