DSMlink Preventing My Car To Tune? Help is needed.

I just went through an intensive upgrade with my motor.

Swapped out the cracked 6bolt block, and swapped in a new one with a completly built motor, including pistons, rods, bearings, cam gears, crank, turbo, etc etc etc...

The final step was to tune the car for the break in. Well this final stage has been leaving several ppl wondering what the hell is going wrong.

The 1st ECU went bad on the car so we had to replace it with a new one. Then when we put the socket for DSMLINK back into the NEW ECU, it didnt reconginze the chip and we were unable to tune. We sent the ECU and the socket to DSMLINK personally to sync to see if they had any other luck. They got them to sync and sent the ECU + socket back ready to install and tune.

We once we plugged them into the laptop and hit capture we got steady readings and thought we were set to go. This time we got an error message on the computer that sais "DRIVER ERROR" possibley meaning error with the computers drivers... We then called DSMLINK back up and asked what the hell this could mean. The motor has about 5k into it and all I want to do is tune the damn thing!

DSMlink asked us if we were using a burned CD of dsmlink by any chance. We told them yes we were. (The kid I bought the car from had DSMlink installed, but lost the CD, i simply burned the free copy offline.) Dsmlink told us we need the ACTUAL CD because they have some software that prevents it from being used in case the socket was stolen, the thieves couldnt use just any burned CD. SO... Dsmlink is sending us an ACTUAL install disk to DSMlink claiming this will fix the problem.

Does anyone have ANY idea what could be causing this hold up in the tune. The cars has 0 problems mechanically, and its a huge tease to start it up and not be able to drive it. Its running dangerously lean and is in desperate need for a tune. I just need a heads up if Im missing something or if anyone else has a clue to whats going wrong. THANKS.

Assuming you have bigger a bigger pump and injectors, I wonder why you're running dangerously lean instead of pig rich.

Big fuel + no tune = run rich. Did a wideband tell you the car is running lean? How old is the first o2 sensor?

Im not exactly sure how old the 02 is.

I bought the car from a kid who complelty rigged the car (electrical tape, duck tape, bungee cords, ETC) and it took some time to fix the rigged shit.

I havnt replaced it.

If you're running injectors and a fuel pump that are that big, you shouldn't be running lean. What makes you think you are running lean?

BTW.. I've never had a problem with using a burned copy of DSM Link on my laptop. I'm guessing there's no way for you to hook your laptop up to the internet and download it directly to it?

How do you know the car is running dangerously lean?
Why can't you just take your lappy into the house and hook it up to the internet?

I was wondering how you're getting the lean referrence too. If you're getting it from your laptop from dsmlink's a/f reading...I say, don't referrence that alone! referrence your timing, knock, air intake...even your front o2 reading, to make sure the car is cycling and it's voltages. I didn't see a wideband in your mods, so I'm assuming you're getting this from the link.

1. If they guys at DSMLink suggest that is the problem I would believe them and try what they suggest.

2. For the hell of it I would try a clean install with the newest version of DSMLink that is available on their forum.
