the reason why his didnt looks so hot is because it was very plain and at the bottom it was just a blank piece of metal.......since i put the numbers in it closed that blank gap pretty good kind of adding a little more life to the gate itself......the shift knob he had didnt help either, 2 make it look great.....yes there still is a blank space towards the bottom but not that bad and the numbers and the chamfer on the gate takes yur eyes a little away from that.....i was planning on engraving "Eclipse" (in the empty space)at the bottom but ran out of time, i might do it when school starts up again.....but im not sure if it would be to much to look at, almost overcrowding mayb, we'll see

I personally would prefer engraving DSM in the plate, but that is just me. I think we are all united!
Keep up the good work, and looking forward to pics of this project.

ya i didnt think of that DSM would b good 2 , because then it could b universal for all the makes.......i have an Eclipse so that was the 1st thing that popped in my head, i could put anything i wanted on them seeing that they wouldnt b mass produced each 1 would be individually made 1 at a time

they're actually called External Shift Gates...........yes, their are 2 of them made as of now, 1 by me & 1 was made by Bumpin ( u must of missed the first 6 pages and most of this 7th page  ), both of them were made from aluminum mine is polished & he painted his....

I finally got some pics, there not the greatest by far, but you can see the difference, i'll try to get some better ones as soon as i can, sry it took so long for me to get these ones.... Oh & I also got a pic of the Mitsubishi Emblem that my friend made for me that fits in the H/VAC Knob area while I was makin the Gate.... I just need someone to post them for me any takers ?

That looks awsome with the gear number engraved. Good work man. Try taking some closeups.

I wouldnt mine having one that is powdercoated black...I dont think I'd like brushed aluminum too much but thats just me.

 OMFG that looks so damn sweet!

It'd still be nice to see some really high quality pics. and are you going to powdercoat, or paint it black? the aluminum looks really out of place.

Keep the pics coming, interested buyer here!

Thanx Guys I appreciate it...naw i think im going to keep mine like that, its almost like a centerpiece, it looks a tad out of place right now maybe but i will make more stuff out of aluminum & buy some stuff, like an aluminum guage bezel, so the interior is accented in aluminum.... powdercoating is a good idea forgot about that, but i cant get that done for free right now & money is tight becuase im getting some Black 18" ADR DV-8 rims.... im still in Highschool & working on my connections right now, so i can get alot of stuff made that i cant make,lol.... any more ideas would be greatly appreciated.... as soon as i can i will get better pictures, i promise.... i was just hoping you guys could see the difference between mine & Bumpin's

Did you have to modify the shifter itself at all for this?

YES! you have to the original shifter is to wide not to mention ugly & taller.... i cut it right off from where they mount & weld it onto the bottom part reamed out the hollow hole because that shifter is hollow so there will be a hole in the bottom & made the new 1 to fit in the hole & welded it in-made myself a totally new s.s 1 piece thatz shorter ,solid, and better looking

Yes, very easy to weld in, nothin to it, but the buyer would have to cut off the rod and drill out or ream out the hole on the bottom of the shifter.... i was thinking of using one that i have left ( a shifter) makin a whole kit ( shift gate & shifter all assembled already welded in) and when you buy it, you pay like $10 core charge and send me your old shifter & you get your $10 back, almozt like when you buy a remanufactured part.... that way i could use yur old one to make a new assembled set.....but i could sell the shifter & the gate itself...but the buyer would need 2 cut, drill & weld there bottom shifter part
