First 5-Speed Run down

Alright my first kill with my 5-spd talon. Boy the car is faster, no comparision.

Well I got my clutch engagement kinda of acceptable, but it still engages right off the floor. New master cylinder tomorrow.

Anyway I decided to go for a spin around the block, and on the highway. I was easing along the onramp onto I-94 taking it easy with the fresh act 2600, shifting at 3K, when I see a Electron Blue Civic buzz by with exhaust, spoiler the usual works, lowered.. Not a day to race I thought.

So I ease up to 70 mph, and slowly catch up to our friend and pass him slowly... He decided to drop it down a gear, and show me up. Great, not today. So I slow down to about 45 in the right lane, to check the status on the car. He also decides to slow down, and he is right next to me. 2 asain guys laughing, and pointing. Ok. Maybe the clutch is new, but this is enough. I put the AVC-R in mode "A". Dropped it into 3rd, and rolled along at about 3,500. The guy downshifts and starts creeping away. I drop the hammer, and man the turbo spools fast to 18 psi with a 5-spd. The wheels started to break free a bit, but I ripped past him very fast. I hit 4th, and he was dropping back. Hit 5th and ran it out to the top, and he was an easy 10 car lengths back. I was pretty impressed with my car. I slowed it down back to 65, and he flew past me at 80+ and kept going. :D I checked the Avc-R max speed, and I was going 196 kmh, which is about 125 mph :D

I must say my car impressed me tonight. All those mods I did, actually do something now on my car. :D

Cool!!

I had an Auto GS-T before this car.....I asked around at a couple of places and was quoted around $7K for a 5-speed conversion....most of those guys suggested I just trade this car in for a 5-speed car so that what I did.

Yeah the 5-speeds are more fun!!

Don't waste your gas on those guys. The freeways were alright lastnite but hey ...drive safe.

I actually saw this at clubsi.com first. Only one post but he wants to know all about the different models and what time they do stock.

Yeh, we ALL know that Electron Blue adds at least 150 RicePower, when added in the right doses!! (The more the merrier) anyway, I didn't think any shop would convert an auto to a manual. I guess with the money in hand they'll do whatever suits you. Happy killing!! (honduh's, that is..)

Shift Points

Hey Peter,

I noticed you said 125 MPH and you had topped 5th...4th gear topped out around 120+ MPH(did that when I had the T-25)..I've never topped out 4th after the Big 16G...its scary up in those speeds..and the car still pulls strong.

I was at club si and one of the guys that replied to your p[ost needs a lesson in english........I registered there but I cannot post till the Administrator approves.

BTW..

What I meant by topping out in 5th was I stopped accelerating.. Sorry for the unclear post.
I just wanted to let you know that the car can do more than 125. My Auto GS-T never passed 125 MPH....I tried a couple of times on the way to Bloomington, IL and it would take ages to reach 125. I had H-rated tires so it must have had a speedlimiter.

I hope your tires are rated for speeds higher than 125 MPH. I've heard that nasty things happen if you drive too fast for your tires.

Oh I know the car can do more than 125 :D

I just don't want to push it on my "nasty" tires. I bought 98 GSX rims off someone who had the car lowered improperly, and they are totally worn out on the inside lip. So I tend not to push it over that speed, plus it was my first time out.

I got up to 140 on I-94 between Lakecook road and Tower Road from a stand still at 2:30 at night. :D

Me and another Chicago DSMer(1G FWD 16Ged raced topend one night on the way back from GLD. ) We had it past 140 when he passed me(My turbo was stock then)...I had a big jump on him(3-5 cars) when we started around 90MPH...and he left it in 5th.

That was the only time I did anything over 130.

Cool.

Just be careful on 94.... I got pulled over by a black undercover Mustang Cobra, tint, chrome exhaust, basically trying to race me in my Bros Eclipse. I wasn't up for a race in his 98 Eclipse RS at, so I basically paced him. We got up to 100, I followed behind him, he switched lanes, slowed down behind me, and turned on the lights. BASTARD!

He got my for 94 in a 55, but wrote it for 85 "being nice" as he said. Asshole.

Wow thats pretty crazy. I've seen Z-28's as cops in a few places, but they've always been clearly marked. Man that just adds a little risk to street racing, who knows who you might go up with next.

What a crock that The Man can race off to 100 and then penalize you for doing the exact same thing! Basically that dude set you up, and to my knowledge it's against the law in some places for cops to do that. Might wanna look into it.

I believe that is called entrapment, and if you take it to court, it will likely get thrown out. But don't quote me on this, I'm just repeating the fuzzy memories I have of something similar I heard long ago. Definately fight it though.

#21 ·
Nah I looked into. :( The cop also got me on video too. Great huh?

It wasn't entrapment I suppose (I consulted a lawyer). At first he was next to me, and kept accelerating to 100 and back down. I don't race in my brothers car. Way to slow. So I just ran a consistent 75.

He switched to the right lane, took off so I eased up to his speed behind him, so I could get quicker to my destination figuring he would get pulled over first. :(

He then switched to the middle lane, slowed down behind me really quickly, and pulled me over.

Lawyer says it was on the border of entrapment, but it would be hard to prove, because i was speeding after the fact, and it would cost me more in lawyers fees than the ticket.

It was my first ticket. 105 dollars, and traffic school. 3 months supervision. :(

YOU TROLL!!!

yea those electron blue civics.... they're pretty deadly....please.... peter ur an idoit comparing a turboed car next to a naturally aspirated one... its like me comparing galant vr4 to a 4 banging accord.... yea if my car turboed with a rebuilt engine i'll probably be fast as u... but then again, my car was $16k BRAND NEW while 1st gen dsms were how much BRAND NEW? i'd hafta say AT LEAST $20K for a nicely equiped turbo dsm... so why don't u quit comparing slow and cheaper honda's with dsm's? why dont u compare me to another $16K car like the altima? i believe the si is a great car for the money BRAND NEW. i have nothing against dsms at this point.. actually i want one.. any one got one for me? :D

Heheh...

I posted it over at Clubsi.com....

I bet they are going to call my story BS. Everyone knows how fast the SI is, especially the Electron Blue model. :)

Looks like we done made someone upset....

Looks like Brian SI didnt like the kill....too bad. Im sure his car would destroy all of us....NOT!

Hey Brian, remember...rice is for weddings....not the street! And who's the real idiot here? It sounds to me like Pete didnt want to race but the rice jockeys instigated it and got their ass handed to them. Sounds fair to me...I'm sure if he didnt dust them, they'd be posting how a non-turbo car killed a DSM...Just my .02

Umm, no...

My Talon's original taxable value back in May '92 was $17,800.

Not $20K. And I know the price point of the AWD Lasers was even lower.

And besides, comparing to a car that's at least 6 years old is stupid.

Instead of spending $16K on that turd, you could spent it on a used DSM and been in the 11s.

But I guess rice impresses the ladies...?

:D
