I have seen civics, and some classics with it ,...and i want it! they can make there cars shoot like 2 ft flames out of the exhaust... does anyone know the method of this?... i have heard running it rich, and people would put spark plugs in the pipes.

thats it.. thats what you do.. but a little more complex.. what it is, is you run your engine rich (which will eave unburned fuel.. and it's not good for your engine at all and if you have aturbo you might be able to blow it up! ;) anyway.. and it's a kit you buy. persoanlly on a DSM that could be the stupidest thing to do.. you'ld ruin it.. it's only really for a V8 oh super high horsepower with a carb not ingection.. and the kit (frined of mine had one) comes wiht something liek a spark plug the you put in your end exahst and it ignights the unburned fuel.. kinda like an afterburner on a jet only without the extra boost. have fun.. i can find out where you can get one if you're really that into it.

If you wanted to keep your car running well (not running so rich), you could run a seperate gas supply to right before the muffler, and have a spark plug wired and bunged into the same place. Hit the switch, and it'd activate the spark and fuel - whoosh!

Probably not the safest thing to do, but i saw it on a V8 website awhile back. :)

you would need a check valve and a tiny pump and ingector to atomize the gas before ignition a check valve to keep the flame from coming back to the source and a small pump to not pump too much..

I've seen it done with a plug and some kind of flap or door rigged; have a switch to pop open to door, and the spark plug ignites the unburned fuel in the exhaust. It looks cool on muscle cars but I agree that I would look wierd at best on a 4cyl Eclipse... looks a lot cooler coming out of two pipes.

find out about that kit for me....i am actually doing it to my olds SS (63') but i figured purhapse i could do it to my dsm too.

hmmm i'll have to go buy that issue of SCC

what does the front cover have on it? (or what month does it say?)

if you want to spit natural fireballs; go buy a RX-7 and put a straight pipe on it...
it'll spit em REEL good

Yep, lol, it 's in the April edition of SCC, pg. 46-47. It's only $773. Called Dragon Fire.
They also have a N/A Blow-off Valve for $309, AND get this, an optional amp for it for an additional $89. Buwahahahahahahahaha...:p

Damn, Speaker beat me to it...
2-6ft yellow rolling flames kickass...

:)
hell yeah man...

my friend here in town had a 87 T2 that he got for real cheap

on one cold night it was running very very rich... he was popping fireballs easily (he already had a full straight pipe setup)

well we went through the mobile river tunnel... and the bikers out on the causeway could hear him like 4 or 5 miles away... they said it sounded like cannons coming out of the tunnel
i was in there and it was REALLY loud; hurt my ears...

well when we left and went back to town; he was still running really rich... and one time he spat two fireballs (the dual thermal exhaust), and they connected to together and feathered up onto the top of the car... lasted about 10 seconds... it was BADASS...

Rotaries are excellent for flames! A guy I know was running 4" straight exhaust, t4 on a 13b rotary with standlalone. He started off running real rich then leaning it out and on his first run he shot out flames the length of the car out the exhaust on the shift!! It's the best flames I've ever seen, On my DSMwith the the MSD I used to have on it, it would shoot about 2ft flames out the exhaust on shifts with the 2step.

flames

all you need to do this is a coil, a coil wire, a spark plug,a on/off switch a bunch of power and ground wire
what you do is ( not that i would ) tap a hole into you expensive muffler tip the same size as the tread on your plug about 4in back from the outlet ( hahaha ) run power and ground wires to your trunk (fuse the power wire) and put a switch in the middle where you can turn it on and off from the driver seat ( hahaha ) you will now have to drill a hole in your trunk to get the coil wire to the spark plug in your expensive muffler.. bolt the coil down to your trunk hook up your wires .....what is going to happen besides melting your bumper is fire will shot out ONLY when you let off the gas and unused gas burns up ... good luck thats the old school hotrod way im sure there are better ways but fire is fire

p.s. i will not be held responsible if any of you blow up your cars or gets arrested ....

Hey guys, the company that makes that N/A bov and the dragonfire is http://www.night-pager.com . They also make something that intrigued my greatly. An electronically controlled BOV that allows you to adjust when the BOV opens, and how long it remains open... with various points of adjustment similar to an AFC. There was a short blurb about it in turbo magazine. If I remember correctly it can tell the difference between vacuum between shifts and vacuum at idle so it doesn't stay open at idle. I guess it measures air flow or something I don't know.... Thought you guys might be interested.

Peace!!

i read today how the w/r/c cars shoot flames. they employ an "anti lag system" commonly called bam-bam. on decelleration it severly retards ignition timing(40 degrees) and dumps tons of fuel into the header. when the gas hits the hot exhaust it ignites and keeps the turbine spooled up. they said it would fry a street exhaust in about 100 miles! next time there is a w/r/c rally on, watch for it........greg
