A FMIC would def help

that or a MkIV SMIC would be a large improvement

I have a MkIV SMIC and it is doing wonderful doesnt heat soak or anything like a Stock SMIC of course.

It all depends on how much you want to spend i guess.

Hey.

From what I understand, the stock SMIC is insufficient to support anything but the stock 14b (I still haven't upgraded my turbo, this is all hearsay). I took the intercooler off my last car to compare with the front mount on my brother's MkIII Supra, and its fair to say it was dwarfed. I talked to a performance vendor at the Chicago auto show about a new intercooler, and he said if you're looking for performance you might as well go all out and buy a spearco/greddy/big ass intercooler...if you get a smaller stock unit off another car (i.e., a Starion) it'll be better than your factory sidemount, but still not capable of supporting max boost (I was asking him about a 20g, maybe its good enough for a 16g). Hope I helped.

People have used 20Gs with the supra sidemount. And supras have dynoed over 400whp with them.. I've boosted my T28/28 to 24psi (now that I got my boost leaks fixed) and it dosen't heat soak. It also lets me run 18-19psi on pump gas, and up to 20psi if it 's cold out. It made a 2mph difference on race gas.. Biggest difference was felt on pump gas though. For $120 that it cost me you can't go wrong. Now i'm just waiting for the track to open to see what this T28 can do.. I got a huge FMIC in the way and I'll test out some differences.

I put a 14B on my car and I recently went from the stock SMIC to a Greddy Small FMIC. It was a night and day difference and nothing else changed!

I got a great deal on it, so it was a good investment. If you only have mild mods, it might not be worth it just yet because the Supra SMIC is hard to beat bang-for-the-buck. But if you don't want to have to do things twice, then I'd say get a FMIC because once your bitten by the power bug, you always want more.
