so this weekend 2 girls, my friend, and myself were chillin' ridin around town..with the occasional buzz of a few civics..blah blah..anyways..so we roll through a parkin lot to find a new prelude..with an h22 in it..so i decided to ask him if he wanted to run..and in return he said "sure" .. so we went from a 25 mph roll..and from 1st to 2nd i was ahead of him by about half a car..but after shifting into 3rd..he pulled on me pretty hard..and pulled me about a car length and a half... does this sound alright?..i thought it was actually going to be a pretty easy walk .. :(

(me = 7 psi (due to mysterious boost leak)...everything stock..except for filter, 1g bov, and uicp)..

(him = stock...he said)
 
if he pulled that hard after second into third for no apparent reason, he may have sprayed...did his rpms jump really fast before his vtec came in...also take into consideration the vtech kicks in at 5krpms in the prelude...so if his rpms jumped higher earlier then that, he could have sprayed on you.

...so you're saying if i was running stock boost .. (12 psi or so)..that i would have roughly 50 more hp?...but i failed to mention... before we left the place we were gonna race at..his friend was like "watch that 3rd gear..and winked at him..".. and he got back.. he was like "you killed him on that 3rd gear didnt you?" and started laughing..but iunno..
 
What's the stock HP on that prelude, there is that one with like 240-270 hp depending on year. If he had that I can see how he beat you. If that H22 has less power than that and you thought he was spraying then you should have asked afterwards, and asked to see his trunk/bay.

But ya, 7psi is probably the problem, I don't think you would lose 50hp at 7 psi, but your definately losing a lot. The N/A motor runs 130hp and the turbo 195-215? So maybe your losing 35-40.
 
He must have had something. Stock? THey're a joke. Also since his friend gave you that wink and told you to watch thrid gear. Maybe his friends gay? Hah J/K.

you have no idea how pissed i get when i read that the 5-7 psi that im losing somewhere is actually 40-50 hp...i replaced the upic..and got a 1g bov..thinking that would be it..but no.. :(.. still only boostin 7 psi or so :(..oh well..will do some more searching tomorrow possibly

7 psi explains it...that is rougly 40 hp decrease like someone stated earlier. If you ran 12..that prelude wouldnt have been anywhere near in sight. Last but not last..preludes are f-ing slow terd heavy ass pos cars..never lose to one again.

Check your turbo for shaft play. Remove the intake off the turbo..and check in and out and side to side play. If the play is pretty bad..than your turbo is most likley shot. If there is very minor..start checking for boost leaks. Does your car ever smoke? Like when your boosting and than you come to a complete stop..do u see a puff of smoke coming out of the exhaust..is so your turbo blew a seal and the turbo needs to be replaced..with something bigger this time! :cool:
 
I got beat by a prelude once on the highway... we were going about 65 and I down shifted to 4th and floored it, before my turbo could spool up he got a couple cars on me... (should have down shifted to 3rd?) he had the 240 HP model and maybe he had something else done too because he jumped like crazy... I started to pull on him finally but I decided it wasn't worth a 120mph ticket so I let him go.
 
the h22 is 190 hp, and a stock 2g is 205, with 7 psi...thats the reason why that is about a 40hp drop and 165 hp vs 190... the reason why you lost.. dont worry about it bro if you car was running correctly, their pos hondas are slow and wouldn't stand a chance... as for being stock, i told everyone i was stock... i made $600 this summer from stupid hondas alone $1400 summer grand total.

This is inaccurate. For a mere T25, 7psi-12psi will NOT net you 40hp. More like 20 or 25 max. This is one reason why you can't just get an extra 60hp turning up the boost to 18psi on a stock car. Now for something like an FP Green with full exhaust and intake, yeah 5psi will get you another 40-50hp.

This is an impossibly vague calculation. Do you think this calculation holds for a T25, and for a T66? Stock exhaust, and full exhaust? This is a useless post.
