I know your thinking "What kind of riceboy reviews a shiftknob?".

But I have to get the word out that this shiftknob is awesome.

It's one peice billet steel with the different color insert for the top.

White
Silver
Black

This thing weighs a ton. You could unscrew it and use it as a weapon. But that's what makes it so good. It adds alot to the shifting feel and I would recommend it as a drivetrain mod.

I will post a pic up of it on my car later today or tommorow.

For the price I recommend it to anyone looking to get functionality out of an aftermarket shift knob. I think 1Gr's will especially like it considering anything is better than the horsecock shifter but this is alot better and smaller.

This is too funny. I installed one on my 1g and I was thinking to myself that I would never tell anyone I put this thing on.

I agree the Greddy counter weighted metal shift knob is great. I think they formed the thing around a piece of depleted uranium because it weighs quite a lot.

Pros: shifting is easier, style points (reminds me of the old Hurst shifter), EASY install

Cons: I'm afraid the extra weight may put too much pressure on the shift lever and cause damage, COLD in the winter, HOT as fire in the summer ( I keep a towel in the car to wrap around it), shifter knob sits MUCH lower so I sometimes miss grabing the knob.

Even though there are a lot of cons I would still do this mod again. Money well spent in my book.

Well my shifter is a B&M and it's a solid thick peice of billet steel and aluminum itself.

I know what you mean about getting hot it gets over 100 dergrees here in az and the shfiter and steering wheel will burn you.

The RRE diamond one looks cooler than the counterweight knob in my opinion, but according to Greddy e-mail staff, that knob is only "roughly 6 ounces" which is not heavy at all.

I wanted that counterweight shift knob and I would have ordered it back in March, but they were out of stock at optauto

Hey 95, how does it feel shifting as opposed to the more ergonomic 2G shift knob?

For those of you who are considering this knob, for $32 it can't be beat! As opposed to other shift knobs that sell for $89 I've seen on one site in particular.

Your wrong about the weight, it is 15 ounces, just a little bit under 1 pound. Also I payed 39 shipped to my door from alamoautosports.com

I like it and would tell anyone to buy one if they want a nice feeling, and looking knob.

I dont know guys, its gunna be hard to get me to use the Greddy knob, I love the 2G knob too much, and I got mine for free at a junk yard.:D
Hey I got mine for free too, came with the car (I guess a previous owner got sick of caressing the horse dong).

So I figure I go with the counterweight knob and have the 2G knob if I ever feel like throwing it back up.

Plus the Greddy knob also fits Mazdas I belive, so you could sell it on ebay for much more (you can target the RX7 and possibly even the EVO owners ;) )

But 95stcktrbo:( gave a review enough to win my money over and re-ignite my interest in this product. Since the knob is round like a baseball I was skeptical thinking it would be like shifting a big rig truck or something uncomfertable- but this review won me over to the knob again.

95STK... do you really recomend this thing? I love the stock look, and the 2G shifter is pretty nice. I also have the B&M and if you think this thing shifts better maybe a choice I have to make. One question can you find 3rd easier, lol.

Greddy already posted the weight of the knob on their website. It's 13.5 (ahh who cares for a few ounces here and there)

However, the knob that weighs 6 oz. is the diamond shaped "Aluminum Series" knobs. I Emailed Greddy about THOSE knobs- NOT the counterweight one. Greddy Emailed me back and said the DIAMOND SHAPED ALUMINUM knob weighs "roughly 6 ounces". Again, I asked Greddy about the weight of the ALUMINUM diamond shaped knob- *NOT* the counterweight.

From Greddy's website on the counterweight knob:

GReddy brings true high performance to your manual transmission shifter. Being twice as heavy as most conventional shift knobs, allows for an easier lighter touch for shifts and a more precise shifting feel. (13.5oz) It has a classic black-chrome finish and comes with three different colored shift badges (standard 5-speed pattern)

I can find all gears easier and downshift easier as well.

I have the regular greddy knob and have no problems with it, and like it better than the stocker, although a heavier knob would be nicer. It is kinda ugly though :). A friend of mine has a heavy knob in his 328 bmw and I can imagine it is just like this one. The knob itself is similar in shape and has an extremely heavy feel to it

Sold!
I was looking at this product at a site the other day, and I was like, "damn, that'd be nice for my car!" As soon as I make an order I'm getting it, it'll be just that much easier to shift ;) QUIK!
Can't wait to see the pic, and found one yet
