Hey guys, I have this grinding noise coming somewhere from my tranny when the car is cold and this noise only goes away after the car is warmed up and driven. Also, even if its cold, and I press the clutch it will go away as long as the clutch is pressed, this sounds very annoying and also makes me stay in the car and hold the clutch down till the car is warmed up because I cant stand it making the sound. What can this be?

*BUMP* Only happens when its cold. I was thinking it was the throwout bearing but I've read that the throwout bearing only makes once when the clutch is pressed, mine is the complete opposite. 16 views and no reply, guys, please help.

Ahh...That sucks, I read somewhere that it can be the pivot fork or something that may need to be oiled, I guess it is the throwout bearing. Its freakin in the 30's here its too cold to pull the tranny. I might bring it by the shop and use their lift or something. As long as I hold the clutch in until the car warms up and the noise goes away, its not damaging anything right?

Do it soon though when the tb goes out it goes out for good, you won't have anything. They go out quick, mine started to squeal so I started to head home. I would say about 5 miles and it was done. You also risk the chance of harming the pp if it goes on for to long. I would try to do it asap.

It's the TOB wobbling around in your tranny, mine has been doing it since last winter (only in the cold, I'd say 30's and below). Hoping it will last through this winter then I am getting a new SBC clutch put in come spring time. =D

Alright. Where can I get a TOB without the clutch, maybe just the fork and the pivot ball. I had the clutch replaced about 11k ago so its still in very good condition, Id say about 95% life left. The car is a N/A 420a

Ive searched online but had a difficult time finding one for a 420a, theres a lot of 4g63 TOB's though lol. Should've just bought a 1g awd :-( lol. J/K Hahn stage 2 is going on by the summer but thats a whole other story.
