Well my Saturday project is trying to put my coil overs on my 1g. Just have a few questions. I'm using ground control coil overs with kyb agx's. I read on vfaq that the dust shield is no longer useable, but I still need that top part the bump stop? I think it is. So here is a picture I took to see if this looks right. Also the cushion that's in top portion does that stay in there or does the new one with the kit get installed with it also?

The cushion does get remooved because it is for running regular springs. As for the bump stop, you do need it, but you have to trim it down. Usually I just trim it down about an inch up where the is a bump in the stop itself. If you are asking about the metal thing that goes around the bump stop..you need that too. It prevents the shock from going through the rubber in the mount.

Sorry you'll have to bear with me a little I'm sort of confused. I'm not exactly sure what piece is the bump stop in this picture. I changed the stuff around like you said so I'm not sure where I would be doing the trimming.

I got everything in the rear taken care of, but the front just doesn't seem right. I didn't everything like the vfaq said, but when I look into the wheel well it looks like there is almost no rod there. Is this normal? Cause it's the sleeve with the grooves, then the adjuster, spring on top of that, then the plate, and two washers at the top with the existing top mount just like they have in the picture, but when installed it looks as if the whole rod is basically compressed. I looked at my friends gsx with lowering springs and his rod is still pretty visable with the same drop, but he's using H&R sports. I'm not sure if this is the way it should look?

Hmm funny I found one of these kits in a local junk yard, too bad they were on a Mazda 323:( . I Don't know of anyone personally running these but I've seen other coilover setups and it varies from what type of shock your using in my opinion as to how much it will stick up. You just don't want it too low into the cylinder or it will bottom out quick thus blowing the shock. I've got Megan Racing (same makers as Apexi) springs on mine and I couldn't be happier. I've never been too crazy about coilovers ride wise but I do like the adjustability.

I'm honestly just confused because you would think it would be bad to have them compressed that much, but I don't see any other way it could be installed. It's just like the way on vfaq and it just looks almost all the way compressed when I look in the wheel well.
