Wow, whoever posted near the bottom about their eclipse needs to calm down. That post was totally uncalled for.
The way I read the thread, they do have respect for the DSMs and two of the GTP owners own or have owned a DSM.
Shame on whoever posted that, now they will certainly lose respect for all DSM owners.

Oh, and the guy who posted info on the DSMs for awareness, he has owned a DSM and has a few friends running 12.1 sec 1/4 in Denver, CO at 5,800 ft elevation.

Yeah, that guy who wrote the "informative" post had a DSM. Too bad that in that kill stories, some dipshit DSMer went in and flamed them. Made all DSMers look bad cuz of one asshole. Oh well, nothing lost but I still wish people like that didn't make us all look bad.

I don't even bother wasting my gas, but when I see any pontiac driver (built for drivers-yeah, shit ones), they still try-What I do--

No need to get all worked up over some other group of owners saying that they can beat your car in a race. Don't dip down to somebody else's level if you don't ahve to. First off maybe they should take a look around at where they are when they are racing. I'm all for a good drag race every now and then but doing some of the stupid things that you read on a certain Honda page is exactly what give most import owners a bad name and makes us a magnet for cops. Racing in traffic, on public roads driving overly aggressive isn't cool. Its just stupid. Who cares if a few GTP owners say that they can beat a few DSM cars. That's fine but prove it on a case by case basis. The guy who flamed them was acting like an ass. Whether or not he now regrets it, he only knows that. GTP's were nice but when my wife was looking at a car they wanted too much for what it was. We both won't buy anything anymore unless its AWD. Her next car is going to be an Audi S4.

The post is proof of what an extrordinary feat he has achieved.......mid 10s in the 1/8th with a 20G wow!!

I think we as DSM owners should stand behind him.....................................................................................................................................and give his sorry ass one big collective kick!!

Hey all. I'm the GTP guy/former DSM owner who's trying to smooth things over between our respective clubs.

First of all, as some have noticed, I'm trying to keep the GTP owners from frothing at the mouth. I'm also trying like crazy to educate them about DSMs. Please let me know if any of you feel I have put my foot in my mouth with the DSM information I've given them, and please feel free to contribute if you have information of value.

I have the email addy of "DSM run things" and am contemplating the value of emailing him directly, but there's no need to start a flame war.

But anyway...

Over on ClubGP, we have a couple members who act as liasons between clubs (an SHO owner and an ITR member), offering up valid info about differences and similarities between our cars.

I have a lot of knowledge in both DSMs and now GTPs, and would like to hang on this board as well to be a goodwill link between ClubGP and Club DSM. I'm a former CODSM member, and promise I won't spout off b.s. about beating a Lambo in my '96 4Runner (wife's ride). I only ask for an attempt at preventing incidents like "DSM run things'" post on the GP forum. Of course, this is your call, guys -- if you don't want me, I'm not going to troll.

I will say, however, that differences aside, you may find that our cars are closer in performance than either side wants to realize. Take the time to learn about our GTPs, just as I'm trying to educate the GP owners about the DSM.

Actually I've run into atleast 3 GTPs and all the owners were really cool people. I have run into some A*&^%les in other cars that cut you off and think they are tough after they got their ass handed to them .... so I am usually not instigating a race.

So far with all the GTPs its been like the classic ... throw a rev / do the thumbs up ....and have a little fun racing....never got an open stretch of road to really go WOT but the point is ... the racing was fun and the drivers were nice people.......I can't generalize but so far that's how its been.

Having love and respect for your car is good.......talking $hit about other/other's cars is not. I hope whoever posted that on the GP forum has the balls to go apologize.

Dude I don't have a GTP but I know that from a roll the GTP would have the upper hand against a Stock AWD DSM. I cannot say about the FWD DSMS...I had a 99 Auto GS-T before my current car and have lost on the top end to GTPs but the manual FWDs are slightly lighter and have 5 more HP. I think it would be a close race.

I appreciate what your doing. Its always nice to have learned and mature people around.

Sure, post some info about GTPs. I was surprised that there was such a aftermarket following with them. Educate me.

Well, keep in mind that the current generation GTP has only been around since '97, so what we do have available is amazing in itself.

Take this into consideration: swapping out the stock S/C pulley on a GTP costs $85 (press-on), and depending on the size, can equate to a 60 hp/70 ft.lbs. upgrade. Of course, after that we have to pop the top on the heads, and most GTP owners aren't quite ready for that.

Everyone in the GTP world is kinda hesitant to do internal engine mods as the transmission is kinda weak (weak like as in a stock GTP might eat it alive), and no one wants to void their still-intact factory warranty.

I'll post more specs tomorrow. Thanks fo giving this a chance.

That would be great. We encourage all auto enthusiasts, regardless of make, model, etc. to participate here at DSMtalk.com. Whoever posted that crap over there is a non-typical DSMer, I hope. As you can see, we here do not endorse or appreciate his immature actions on the GTP board. He sounds like a troll...You guys ought to axe his posting privileges.
I'm sure everybody here would appreciate some info. on the GTP's. Always nice to know!
