I went and got my car dyno tuned yesterday. Gained 25hp from the tune up to 260 hp(at 19psi pump gas). Yeah that's right you better watch out! I don't know why I am getting such shatty numbers any thoughts?

Mods-turbo,255 rewired,650's,fpr,hard ic piping, fmic, 1g bov w/ leak stop kit, Apexi N1 exhaust, down pipe, safc, logger.

The engine is stock. All that I can think of is check for leaks, and replace spark plugs.

*And spike problem was solved for the tuning*

holy shat...that is not right!!

But, some things could have a factor on the #'s:
- what boost level was this at?
- was the car even tuned?
- there could be boost leaks, not like you dont know that
- just needs a tune up?

A few questions tho, was this pump gas?? and why did you say plugs, when was the last time you changed them? Are they NGKBPR7ES's, if not, you'll need those

What turbo is in there? What psi are you running? What does you timing look like? Is that 260hp at the wheels? if so that is not horrible for a smaller turbo.

Remember the stock rating for a 2g is 210hp at the engine. So with about 18% loss, stock power is about 172whp. your are 88 hp over that, or about 50% more than a stock 2g...as i said not horrible.

looks like he's running a t3/t4 50 trim at 19psi on pump gas.

I don't see that he edited his thread anywhere, y'all need to read a little better ;)

Thanks SVTRob... the car was tuned by Aerocomp dynamics, the timing was low(10) but there were no signs of knock.

Chicago_DSM- the tuner suggested changing the spark plugs but other wise didn't have much of an explaination

I actually might have the logs from the runs I will check.

You should be able to do 300ish no problem. Shit I was doing 250's on my T28.

You need to do some maintaining to that car, replace the fuel filter, new plugs(gapped .028-.03) and ah, replace(clean the air filter).

Your low timing would indicate you are getting knock... it should be a bit higher.

Log your LFTF and STFT next time you take the car for a test run. They will indicate if the car is attempting to add more fuel to compensate.

Your timing in the log looks fairly normal, maybe a couple degrees low.

If you were getting knock before the tune your ecu would have pulled timing and it will keep it that way untill it learns you can run more. You could reset the computer and see if the timing comes up, that *may* help.

Oh, I didn't see what turbo at first either as I had clicked on it from the main page. The title line was truncated.

The wideband looked nice and smooth all the way across at ~12
Is 12 for the AFR not a bit high?

I dont' know why you think you werent' seeing any signs of knock. Your log and timing tells me the car was knocking during that run.

Airflow is also low by looking at that timing map and it kinda looks like the turbo is spooling very slowly. When are you seeing your full 19psi?

The turbo starts spooling at 3500 and I am not sure when I hit full boost at the very latest 3.9K, I hadn't looked at the log from the pull until later, and I do see the knock. Without having a computer around while tuning it is impossible to see those timing numbers on the tiny Palm screen. Lame excuse I know

I agree with greenstreak. Definitely looks like a little bit of knock in the log. That timing curve has some dips..... Looks like spool knock.

1whitegst - Your narrowband shows to be rich and you wideband shows to be lean as hell. What model of wideband are you using? Your timing at the top of third is not too bad. I've seen much worse than 17-18 before. What octane if your pump gas?

#25 ·
I'd tune for ~11.2. Maybe something is wrong with your turbo, that seems like it is spooling way too slow.
