I did a search and found nothing on it does anyone use a high-flow fuel rail and is it neccessary at all on a dsm. The reason I'm asking is I will be installing new injectors this week and since the rail will be off I was wondering if I should replace it with a high-flow?

Thanks,

I had my stock rail bored out, if you look through the rail you will see that its actually pinched in the middle, limiting fuel to the second and first cylinder.
After it was bored out the middle of the rail was bigger then the outside of the stock rail, it will definetly flow more fuel now.

I dont think its neccesary, I was thinking about it last week when I installed my injectors. If you are into engine dressup, then a colored Venom one would be cool. But It looked like it can hold a lot.
BTW, you don't need to remove the Fuel Rail to install the injectors. I didnt, and it worked fine.
Make sure you have a rag handy, a lot of fuel pours out the rail as you remove the stock injectors.

A friend bored it out for me, all you really need is a drill that is slightly longer than the rail :)

I looked at a 2G fuel rail cannot see any pinch in the middle,
the pinch you're seeing may be a warped fuel rail, yes that's right mitsu may have screwed it up.

Don't bother with your venom fuel rail the stock stuff won't even bolt up to it correctly. The inside is EXACT same diameter as stock.

I know that the 1g rails are pinched, friend has been boring them out a lot lately.
Im not sure about the 2g rails but i could of swore he showed me one and it looked like it was pinched even more than a 1g rail. Ill get back to you on that.

The way mitsu screwed up here(the 1g rail at least) is by drilling the rail out from both ends, instead of drilling it straight from one end to the other.

Yup that was a 2g rail. He doesnt bore them out for no reason, if you get a chance to look at a 2g rail again try dropping something that fits through the top... i can gaurantee you that it want fall through as it'll get stuck in the middle.

The outside of the stock rail is 7/16" and it tapers down to 5/16" in the middle, he bores it out to 9/16". He actually uses a reamer to bore it out, i have no idea what that is :)

I believe the fuel rails are cast pieces. And they are plenty big. They're about equivalent to -8 fuel line. We use the stock rail(untouched) on the Polk Performance drag car. That's w/ 96lb/hr injectors. The rail isn't pinched in the center, but I have seen some that are. It's a very large fuel rail and shouldn't need to be replaced in most applications. We were pushing 550chp with no problems.

Just take a look inside of the fuel rail. That thing is pretty big. Unless you're going after an insane amount of power that stock will be fine. Just redo the fuel system with 6AN lines and fittings. Here's a quick writeup and price list I did for my Galant based on the Stevetek article:
