I have old dried/gooey oil from when the engine had/has a leak, how can I go about finding the location of the said leak? Whats the best to take all the old oil off the underside of the engine? What most common in a 106k 1g motor ?

I believe that there's also a dye that goes in your oil & you can look w/ a black light. Sometimes it's impossible to see where that one tiny crack is. I could be wrong, but look into it.
I've only seen that dye used in A/C applications but It might be useful looking for oil leaks. However, Oil is much more visible, and if everything is squeaky clean and you have a leak, you should be able to see where it is coming from fairly easy.
Where is the oil at? A common place to get oil leaks is the valve cover gasket.
