How does your car handle??

Just out of curiosity, especially for the high mileage guys here, how does your car handle? My car has around 150,000 miles on it now and the suspension is getting a lilttle tired. I mean a lota tired. My car handles like absolute ass! During cornering the front end just feels super heavy, and the body roll is just hilarious. Seriously my friends 87 Firebird with a ws6 performance suspension feels better than my car through the twisties. Oh well, I'm not complaining, I paid $500 hard earned dollas  for this beast, and it just isn't worth it to me to start with suspension mods. I suck.

My car has 107,XXX miles and handles great, but it's also not stock :). If I was going to keep it I would be getting new bushings and anti-sway bars. But I'll leave that up to who ever gets it next.

My '92 had 146,000 on it before I went to coilovers and AGX's but it handled pretty damn good on the stock, old stuff. Granted it rolled a bit, but the shocks were still good (no bouncy bouncy) and the ride was fine. I have no experience with a brand new '92 AWD so I dunno how stiff they were new.

My shocks & springs on my laser when i first got it was so worn out that it squeaked. And because of it being worn out, the handling was crap. I got new kyb agx shocks & suspension techniques 1" lowering springs, & set the camber to negative with a camber kit. The handling is awsome now! Helped my tires stick to the road a bit better, not to mention the meaner lowered look of a 1g. Time for a suspension upgrade my dsm brother!

Peace out,
Saber!...!...!

My '95 GSX handles pretty bad. Just making a U turn in traffic going anything more than 8 mph the wheels squeal like I'm trying to auto x my dad's suburban. I'm waiting to save up for a good set of Tein's (still gotta research some more). I figure coilovers + shocks are about the same price as a set of true coilovers (Tein), and the difference is pretty much day and night. Once I get a rear STB, RM sway bars, and Tein's; I think I'll be happy with driving the 2g again :D

i bought my car with suspension already done to it, and it handles very nicely. it has 18's, nitto 555's pumped to 38psi, tockico shocks and neuspeed springs. its really responsive, but the ride makes my ass and the ass's of my passengers suffer :(

there are reasons why my tires r pumped to the psi they are at...there have been to many threads and too many reasons to list the pros and the cons...my tires are zr rated so its usually pumped to around 40 psi. higher tire pressure makes the ride stiffer, but it makes it less likely to bend a rim and it gives better gas mileage supposedly. it all depends on wat the tire manufacturer rates the tires at.

I originally had 35psi of nitrogen in my tires but when i dropped the pressure back to 32 fronts and 30 rears it felt so much better. Thats on my zr pirellis.

my talon has 160,000 on the clock last spring I changed to agx/prokits hugh difference it still had the factory org. shocks lets just say whan i took off the factory shocks I pushed them down and they are still down lol the combo is very good a lil harsh but with my yoko's and suspention package its glued to the road now

Stock my car handled like shit, it had more body roll than a boat, and would just plow through corners. That was only with 49k on the suspension too (it just sucked from the factory).
Now I can barely break the tires loose around corners, and I try sometimes. It just sticks so hard it makes me feel like i'm about to fly through the window (stupid stock seats), but I have better wheels/tires, springs, shocks, sway bars, and strut tower braces, so that's why. I like it. :) Now I just need some good racing seats ($$$ = way later).

FYI, WS6 thirdgen Firebirds are among the best factory handling F-bodies ever, just like IROC's. Your friends car should outhandle your stock DSM like nothing else, even if it has lots of miles.

As far as tire pressure goes, what you should run depends on the tire. My Dunlops are rated for 51 max psi, and I usually run around with 39-40 in them because that's what they like (even treadwear and best traction).

I wonder if it's mostly a problem with stock AWDs since I think they sit a little higher?

My unmodded GST has about 64,000 miles on it, and the thing still has zero body roll in corners, very, very little dive or squat, no floating whatsoever over dips and rises, and just sticks with no squealing in corners... when it does let go, it's gradual and turns into simple understeer - but a lift off the throttle and it becomes more neutral.

I wouldn't mind a bit less understeer to make it more fun, though I like the safety margin it provides for the street. I used to be able to rotate my CRX just by lifting off the throttle... which was great fun! I don't think I've *ever* broken the rear of the eclipse loose, even when trying.

Not only that but they are more aerodynamic then the newer body, if you can believe that. I didn't but my TTA is more aerodynamic, and handles very good. It squats and gets lower with increased speed.

Rides a bit stiff but still fairly comfortable. Mods are in the sig. The car pulls >0.94 G's on the Kumho 712 tires. I haven't GTeched the V700 tires but they've gotta be well over 1.0 G's.
