I have ran two different HX40s. The 7 blade(comp wheel) 60lbs/min and 6 blade 65 lbs/min; both with BEP DSM exhaust housings and a 44mm external w/g. I have not ran a FP Red, but I believe it is just a 60-1 hybrid turbo. Although I did use a 60-1 DSM hybrid Mutt turbo similar in configuration to the FP Red.

The 60-1 hybrid spooled faster than then the 6 blade Holset. However the 60-1 compressor has a boost threshold of 30 psi; anymore causes cavitation, is damaging to the turbo and creates more heat.

Both Holsets can provide a higher pressure ratio and have better flow above 25 psi. The 6 blade has more lag, but I had to add 75 HP worth of fuel to my tune from the 7 blade above 7000 at 35 psi with the same amount of timing.

If you are looking to run the turbo for everything it is worth I would go with the 6 blade Holset. If you plan on operating the car a lot under 25 psi I would keep the FP Red. The 60-1 provides better air flow at lower boost levels, the Holsets tend to surge more.

I am now using BW258 on my street car and it has a better spool than any of the above turbos, but lacks a little up top from the 6 blade Holset. However it is a great turbo for the street and still provides good power under 25psi. I have yet to upgrade to the 259 billet comp wheel for $325, but Bullseye told me it was even better on both ends.
