coming back from a road trip i tried to find out what my top speed was.... not a good decision... i topped out at 135mph at 8000 rpm and blew my engine.

What were you thinking???? 8K not good unless the motors built, but it sounds like your wasent. If your motor isnt built or have cams you really shouldnt be taking it past 7k. So was it worth it??

7500rpms in 4th is right around 130mph, you blew your motor in 4th, didnt you?

 

i blew my engine hardcore style once. I shifted from 3rd at 7000 right into 2nd, which apprently is a really short 4th, and just pegged my in-dash tach-o-meter

 

The red line on the tachometer is there for a reason not just a design, unless you have a built motor.

 

Now I don't have a 2g, nor do I have any idea if they are geared differently. BUT I have done 145+ in my first 1G awd TSi. And I wasn't anywhere near 8k (at least not to the best of my recollection) I think I was just under 7k or right at it.

I was thinking the 1g (at least) should be capable of around 150ish mpr before it's at it's stock revlimiter. So it seems pretty odd to me you were turning 8k and only doing 135..


Am I wrong here?
