Ok so for some reason im just sitting here thinking, "how the heck can i get a logger since im broke, have no job, and cant get one!?". And it dawned on me, you guys all go buy palm pilots, put some lil program on them and buy a cable to log what your engine is doing. I don't have a palm, but i do have a laptop. Couldn't i just get the cable and a program for my laptop to do all of that? If so could someone give me instructions including links? Thanks appreciate it.

Yes sir, in fact if you have a laptop it would be easier to log because you don't have to sync the palm pilot from your computer, you just log from your laptop. But to tune you need DSMLink or something. As for the programs, I don't know of any that are free online, chances are you're going to have to buy one.

I just got my logger with everything for 60 bucks. It was a good buy but I still need to connect it and get the charger for the palm.

Sweet, thats what i was hoping for, but i think ive heard that there are free programs to download. Anyone have a clue? Oh and im not really needing to tune right now, i just upgraded to a big 16g and i just want to know whats going on like too much knock or timing pull so i can adjust the boost a little for now till i get the $1200 for dsmlink, inj, fuel pump, e prom, socket! Geeze i hope i can get my posts up so i can buy that stuff in our classifieds lol.

I'd check your grammer first.

You need a emulator or whatever to log on a laptop I believe. Search for it and you'll come a little closer to your answer.

Yes, there are free programs out there that you can use to log using your laptop. The problem you will run into is that if you have a newer laptop, it may not have a RS232 (DB9) comm port. That will be needed unless you want to buy a USB to serial cable which can range from $15-$35 depending on where you buy it. I have heard that some people have problems with the USB to serial cables while others don't. I am working on a similar setup but keep running into walls.

Here are a couple of links to check out:

Be wary of the "blue cables" on Ebay. Often they have a different chipset in the cable than what the drivers on the CD are for. Not fun. Trust me.
