Hey guys I am taking my car to be tuned and they do not have an All Wheel Dyno. They said that they are going to convert it to FWD for the tune and then back again. Can someone explain this process to me. What they do to convert?

ya this was actually talked about yesterday. I'd recommend finding a shop that has an awd dyno for 2 reasons:
1) u dont have to buy VC
2) u'll see how much hp u have to all the wheels. No point of seeing how much hp ur car would have as a FWD considering there would be a very noticeable difference.

AM$ has raised thier prices to 225.00 and hour. They quoted me 4-5 hours for a basic tune. I told them I already have a base map but they said because of the new rebuild and larger cams they have to start all over. $1125 dollars for a basic tune is too pricey and they just lost a customer. Sound Performance is charging $125 for the conversion and said should only take 1 hour to adjust my map @$180 an hour. I did the map and SP gets my buisness. The only changes to the rebuild was the add of FP2 cams.

Hey Ass...Stick your comment where God split ya. I did a search and what I found was people talking about AWD to FWD conversion and saying why would anyone do that? Very informative. I was just curious what shops do to dyno the car. So Stay out of my thread if you don't have anything constructive to give to it. I'm tired of these assfuckers saying "does anyone use the search button anymore? Good fucking way to up your post count. Idiot!

Wow I'm sure this isn't something to get that mad about.
I do a lot of reading on here and am tired of seeing useless posts to use the search button. People come here for help....It isn't hard to answer the questions but there is that one guy that always has a useless post that interupts the reading. Yes I am irritated cause now it happened to me!

fucking noobs...i do agree with what fisherob is saying, but there is no reason to harass a senior member over it. every now and again they do post useless thing as well but for the most part they got their post counts from helping noobs like yourself. now back to topic at hand. $1125 is a retarded amount to pay for a tune, i agree. most of us are simply looking to get the timing maps done on the dyno simply because its very hard to do it on the street. so fwd is fine for this. most of us dont have dyno queens or really care exactly how much the car is putting down. i know i just look for an improvement from what i drove in with.

First of all, calm down. Its nothing to swear about.

You said the thread you read before didnt have anything informative in it? Then what is this?

Hold on guys, check you info on this one.

I am going to assume that you are going to switch to front wheel drive to have you car put on a 2wd dyno because I can not think of any other reason you would want to go to Fwd. That being said….

You can convert to a Fwd by installing a Viscous Coupler Eliminator (VCE). This will allow you to drop the driveshaft and the transfer case so you can drive the car back and forth to the dyno. I do not suggest that you drive around all the time like this because front wheel drive and traction do not belong in the same sentence; take my word for it because I own both.
The Viscous Coupler Eliminator (VCE) is easy to install and remove and it only takes about half an hour.
Here is the link to MachV that has them. http://www.machv.com/viscoupel.html

I dont mean to sound like a dick but you didnt even have to search for that. All you had to do was scroll down the page. A lot of information is here, learn to take advantage of it next time.
