i live in san diego, and it starting to rain right now, the problem is that my side intercooler does not have any cover on it, i'm just wondering if it is going to be ok to leave it like that(i have just pulled it out and clean it, and it real made a difference)or would it effect the performance of the car?

yeah,it'll affect performance, the mist from the rain might actually give you a water injection type effect, rendering more horsepower. :p ,just don't hit any big puddles, normal rain, your intercooler will love.

I took mine off my talon ONLY do to the fact that it cracked on the inside lip where it attaches to the plastic trans cover and rubed a big ass hole in itself from my pass front tire  . This happend yesterday and the thought of picking up a rock and it punching a little hole in my intercooler looms right behind me as I drive, like Death himself is in the back seat. I'm on the hunt for one right now. I would say you can get away with it but if it's not a big deal to put it on there, I would put back on.

I guess you take the chance of it getting hit by a rock, but rain wont effect it in a negative way. It just might help cool down the air flowing trough.

The only reason it may change the performance of the car is because you might get more airflow through the core without the flow restriction behind the intercooler. Solution is to make a screened vent in the cover the old school way. You get the higher flow with the protection of the cover.
