Is 91 octane gas ok?

Hi,
I always pump 93 because usually there's only regular 87, plus 89 and premium 93. However, one of the Sunocos here have a premium 91 too. I'm wondering if 91 octane gas will suffice for a 2G GST?

I ran 91 in my somewhat modded GST and GSX (basic mods up to fuel) only because that's all that was available around my old town, I got by just fine.

I can tell you that here in Cali we only have 91 swill. If your car is tuned properly it will do the trick, but if I were you I'd suck it up and keep using the 93. I know I would use it if it were available here.

On a stock type setup you'd probably be fine. On anything modified you'd definately see a benefit in stepping up to 93 octane.

Well said. For a stock car 91 is OK. Heck, that is all the guys in Cali get anyway. When you start modding it will become somewhat of a limiting factor though.

can you guys in the states get 94 at the pumps as well? the sunnoco right down the street from me has it, so i get to run that all the time....but i used to be stuck with 91 octane as well so i can understand where u cali guys are coming from.

Sunoco in NYS Always had 87-89-91-94

Recently past 3 years they switched 87-89-91-93

Running 91 is fine in your stock DSM. My gf has a boost controller and some free mods, in her GST I make her fun the 93 its only like 3-4 cents a gallon more than the 91.

At least the Unocal station around the corner from me still sells 100 octane at the pump. I haven't checked on the price in a little while though. Otherwise yeah, we're stuck with 91 out here.

100 octance pump would be awesome. i've never heard of that before though.
Yeah, the first time I saw it I thought it was a joke. Next time I'm down there I'll take a picture and post it up. It's funny too because the button to activate the pump has a hand written label on it.

ya 24 psi on pump gas lol.......i don't think 100 octane counts as pump gas even if it's in a pump. haha i'll start my own gas station with a flo n' go station and 114 octane just for you cali guys :p

Is there any difference in the way the octanes are measured?
Yes, there are 2 different methods.

If you can pump the gas from the pump directly to your tank, it's PUMP GAS, period. Man, If I had 100 octane pump gas nearby, make no mistake I would be running 28psi daily with no meth injection. I personally don't view meth injection numbers as "pump gas" no matter how everyone trieds to justify it. ;)

I said I'd post a picture so here it is. One of these days I'll have to kill my wallet and score me a tank of this stuff. Sorry the picture isn't prettier, I snapped it with my cell phone.
