I'm in the process of tightening down brackets/mounts in the engine to get rid of false knock read by the knock sensor. I just rebuilt the engine, and I doubt that I'm getting true knock, that, and I don't hear any sort of rod knock either.
Secondly, the knock logs I"m getting are at 43 during free revving. Another symptom of false knock.
Anyways, I'm taking out the sensor to see what's up with it; goo and what not. Turning it is not very hard. I can turn it clockwise with not alot of effort. (For anyone who's looking for info on taking the sensor out, its best, IMO, to take out the battery and its bracket, as well as the starter; also, use a 5-6 inch monkey wrench that'll widen to about 15/16" (there's a bunch of space to work with this way)).
Given the tight space, it is very tough to gauge torque without doing it by feel. ?Am I to torque to 14-18 ft/lbs early or late: I can turn the KS many times at the same torque, its not really tightening down any, just threading through.
Also, when I was logging the engine, I found that as the knock count rose, the TIMA (timing advance) increased as well. The TIMA was at 8 deg. at idle, but would increase as high as 40. Am I interpreting the results wrong? I would think that timing being retarded would mean that the TIMA would decrease, below 8.
Now, as the knock count rises I am getting the correct computer response, as the rpms seem to limit at 5k. So am I reading the TIMA results incorrectly or is something horridly effed???
