Am possibly looking at a methanol kit in the future and have my eyes on a couple of relatively budget options:

Water Injection - Alcohol & Methanol - Stop Knock - 150 PSI Pressure Switch Stage 1 Kit (1-30 PSI of Boost) (Powered by CubeCart)

Injection Kit

My buddy said these kits look OK, but that a progressive controller would make tuning a hell of a lot easier, as the meth isn't dumped in all at once when you start which could bog it down some. Wondered what you guys thought of these as budget kits and how valuable the progressive controller is (as it would add quite a bit of cost onto it, and I'm not made of money).

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

I recall reading somewhere that the differences in a progressive controller werent really negligable. Maybe it was done by a voltage test or something, but the increase and decrease was small... Its ok to have, but if you find a kit really cheap that doesnt have progressive id just get the cheaper one if money is a factor. ( I dont mean a cheap kit in quality, but in price.)

Your car could really use some meth or higher octane fuel.....;)

Check this out. Coolingmist This is probably one of the best opitions out there from what I have seen. It is a little bit on the expensive side, but I think it is worth it. If only I didn't already have their Vari-cool controller.. :sigh:.

( 4g63tFTW = Your sig is funny... Dsms are a good comparison to the Millennium Falcon.. Buckets of bolts that keep breaking down but when there working there faster than all the big ships chasing them around lol.)

To the OP, have you thought of the DevilsOwn INjection kit?
A lot of people have really good reviews about that kit, and i believe its progressive, and not too expensive.

I made my own "kit" and all I use a boost solenoid, once my car reaches 15psi it activates and sprays, I wired an LED for indication...I never had a problem with the system at all...its simple and has worked 100% for over 2yrs now

I love my progressive kit. It's from "Devil's own".
You get to tune exactly when to start spraying meth and at what amount of boost to fully inject meth.

It really helps when tuning.

I have looked at the DevilsOwn Injection kit, but their progressive kit is $330, plus the cost I'd need to pay for a reservoir. While I could possibly afford it, it is starting to creep a little too high for my liking.

It seems that Aquastealth\BeCooling have a couple of kits available on Ebay - may go for one of those in the future. What kind of nozzle should I be running? I used the calculations at enginerunup.com and that came out to around an M5 size nozzle. However, am currently hitting around 300-310WHP according to my rev/speed meter and I'd like to be around 350WHP later in the year. In addition my boost is at 1.2 bar and will hopefully get that up to 1.3-1.45 bar depending on knock with meth. Would an M7 be better for me.

Next couple of questions when it comes to these 2 budget kits I've picked out. The first kit I picked out has a stage 1 and stage 2 kit. The stage 2 kit comes with the following:

A filter is now included to ensure that tiny bits of debris do not clog your injector. An inline Pressure Detector is also included which serves a dual purpose. It is placed between the Check Valve Injector Mount and the Pump, and when the injector is pressurized, it triggers a switch which illuminates a light in the cockpit so you know everything is working correctly. The same sensor also serves as a clogged nozzle detector. When you let off the gas, your water injection kit will immediately switch off as well as the light in the cabin. If your nozzle is clogged, the pressure will remain in the system between the solenoid and the injector, causing the light in the cockpit to stay illuminated. The pressure detector is rated at a pressure of 250 psi.
Would something like that be worth an extra $50? And finally, the 2nd kit I pointed out had a 120-140psi pump. Would that be ok for the power I'm making, or would I be wanting to get the 150psi pump?

For the sizing...
I tried an M7 nozzle with an E316g at around 25 psi and it would bog up top. I'm down to an M5 nozzle and I'm at 26 psi on 91 octane with no knock.

I tried pushing the boost further but the M5 nozzle isn't enough and I would knock.

I'd like to remind everyone that 91 octane in cali is pretty shitty. If I was to run some decent 93 octane, the M5 nozzle would max out my setup no problem.

If I recall correctly, you're running some type of 16g.
M5 should be sufficient. Just order an M5 nozzle and one other that's a little bigger. If the M5 is too little, it's pretty easy just to put the other one on.

Those nozzles are cheap too.

Yeah - am running a small 16G. Probably not going to be going up from that (at least, not in the short run).
If you get more completel control of your tune, with a m5 nozzle on 100 octane and a small 16g you should be able to max out that turbo with no problem and lots of timing.

Perhaps you will consider stepping up to a evo3 16g and that should be enough for you to see a good bit more than the 350whp you mentioned...

Well, I have ordered a Stage 2 progressive meth kit from Devils Own. Ordered it on Saturday and hopefully will get it in the near future. It ships with the M3, M7 and M12 nozzles. Will probably fit the M7 in first and go from there.

How will I know if that nozzle is too small for my needs?

^Well it's much easier to know if it's too big.
If it's too big, car will bog at some point under boost.
You're trying to go as big as possible for your boost level without and bogging.

My DevilsOwn kit came in today, and a very nice kit is it too. Only problem is that they have only sent me the M3 and M7 nozzles (and not the M12 as it says on their website) but hopefully that will be sent to me soon. Any chance people could take pics of their install (trunk and engine bay) so I can see how it's all laid out? The instructions are the greatest and I'm a pretty visual person when it comes to stuff like this.

Well DevilsOwn are now saying they didn't advertise it with 3 nozzles and that it has advertised only 2 for some time. They must have noticed they have done though as their product details on their website changed overnight. Good thing I took a snapshot of the screen saying they do as evidence ;) Will hopefully get the M12 sent out to me soon.
