it was about 8:00 i was coming home from the mall and i stoped at a red light flicked my neons on and waited for the light to turn green. at the time i was the only car waiting at the light it just turns green and i go to take off not hard or anything just at a normal rate, i look over to my right and i hear a little squeel its a black neon that took off from a roll beside me. so i stomp on it the neon gets in front of me by about two cars by the time i really start driving i look and the neon has duel exhaust i look for a high rise spoiler but i couldnt see because the car was black and its dark. im thinkin it was an SRT-4 being it had duels. anyway i start catching up the neon hits its brakes (traffic is starting to get heavey) i get right up behind him and he goes again i follow him we were weaving between some cars and he isnt gaining on me finnaly he pulls off on a side street. anyway i didnt follow i kept going my way home. is it possible that was an SRT-4 i mean i just have a GS with basic mods, full exhaust with header, intake, short shifter, pullies, if that was an SRT-4 i am really disapointed i thought they had more than that or maby a bad driver.

no way it was an SRT... btw, can you send me some of whatever you're smoking?

The amount the SRT-4 pulled on you would have been pronounced. With your mods you're probably around 150hp. They are 245 stock. He's a jackass for putting dual exhaust on his car. Don't you guys have the same motor? 420A?

Even with spray you wouldnt hold a candle to a stock or mildly modded SRT-4. There not fast by any means, but there not turtles either. 245 > 150 horsepower is pretty self explanitory. I guess you were just racing an SXT neon.

Good kill either way

I need some too...

By the way, it is better not to post about "weaving" in and out of "heavy traffic" because you will get flamed on these boards. You know better. Fine, if you drove immaturely on the streets but keep it to yourself or prepare to get a flame thrower to the face. Your immaturity on the streets could have taken the life of someone innocent or guilty like yourself.

ok i dont get it,all you guys rage on others for street racing,we all know u all do it,and if u own a dsm and if its turbocharged and u take it easy on it,theres something wrong, yea somethings wrong with u,or maybe its that u guys dont have the balls to push the limits on the streets, cause if u tell me to go race at the track, thats funny or if u say i only race at the track and try to sound all special, thats even funnier because any idiot can spend whatever it cost to go in a STRAIGHT LINE,but it takes real balls to be grabbing gears while you are trying to watch out for people, and people street race all the dang time, and people complain about the racers killing people, theres more normal driving accidents then there are cases of street racers hitting people, but thats funny because street racings getting bigger so u would think the nubmer of crashes would go up,and u all are against the street racing,ok then where in the hell do u think the heritage of racing imports came from, its not a weekend drag strip racer like most muscle car enthusiast, are cars(dsm's)are built for the street thats where all of the big names where made like eclipse and rx 7 and civic not from the strip but from the street,so if u are going to rag on people for racing on the street then are just making fun of your cars haritage and u dont even diserve to own a dsm if u are going to take it easy on it,durr its a sports car, thats what they are built for

and u guys dont know nothing about power to weight ratio,i totally agree that the srt-4 is a really fast car,but if u gear your car right and if u set it up right,u might not win with that little amount of power but u can give him a run for his money, and y are u braggen about a neon and making that guy feel like crap, this sites to talk about dsms and not how a srt-4 is going to leave dread marks on his face, and for the guy that talks about the ratio of the neon and this guys car that raced the neon, and u say the ratio explains its self and it says 245.150,so what u are saying if i had 245 hp in a 1 ton pickup and i had my talon with only 150 the truck would spank my ass all over the us just cause he has 95 more hp than me,and u guys know thats not 245 whp that those neons put out so u are over playing that also

WTF?!!! STFU & GTFO
You are irresponsible at best. It isn't fair to endanger other people's lives that aren't aware of the risks that they're taking just by commuting to work or w/e.

#14 ·
I apologize if I came off too rude, but the way you were talking wasn't about organized street racing. STFU=shut the fuck up. GTFO=get the fuck off. I wrote that b/c of how you were condoning disorganized and high risk street racing and scolding the rest of us for not.

no what i meant to say is i guess u can say i live out in the middle of no where so all me and my friends can do is find vacant streets to do are racing, and the closes track is like a 2 hour drive away, and i like to keep the import scene alive,i feel like its dieing off cause the new car designs and everyone going to the track to do there thing, the real street racers are kinda left out in the cold, and im apologize too ,im not the best speller and i didnt explain myself clearly

I don't street race, so do not attempt to say that "we all do it". And you bet your ass I take it easy on my car. I prefer it to get decent gas mileage day to day and not take any unecessary wear and tear so its running strong for weekend track outings.

cause if u tell me to go race at the track, thats funny or if u say i only race at the track and try to sound all special, thats even funnier because any idiot can spend whatever it cost to go in a STRAIGHT LINE,but it takes real balls to be grabbing gears while you are trying to watch out for people,
Last time I checked there are tracks that have more to them than just a straight line. You should check them out, I hear they are pretty sweet.....

No, the only thing it takes "to be grabbing gears while you are trying to watch out for people" is a running car and a lot of stupidity.

and people street race all the dang time, and people complain about the racers killing people, theres more normal driving accidents then there are cases of street racers hitting people,
No really.... However, just becaus the number of street racing deaths is smaller than the number of other auto accidents does not mean you can justify what you are doing. Its reckless and stupid.

but thats funny because street racings getting bigger so u would think the nubmer of crashes would go up,and u all are against the street racing,ok then where in the hell do u think the heritage of racing imports came from,
Where do you think the heritage of racing muscle cars came from? I'm pretty sure it started on the streets. That doesn't make it a good thing.

its not a weekend drag strip racer like most muscle car enthusiast, are cars(dsm's)are built for the street thats where all of the big names where made like eclipse and rx 7 and civic not from the strip but from the street,so if u are going to rag on people for racing on the street then are just making fun of your cars haritage and u dont even diserve to own a dsm if u are going to take it easy on it,durr its a sports car, thats what they are built for
If telling people who are driving recklessly and endangering others that they are stupid means that I don't deserve to own a DSM then I guess I better go sell my car. I'm pretty sure DSM did not design your car so that you would go street race it.

I posted before I got to read this statement. I get what you are saying, I just have a big problem with the whole racing through/around traffic thing. I don't street race, but I won't tell you not to, that is your choice to make. I just get pissed when your racing starts to put, for lack of better terms, innocent bystanders at risk.

A good way to keep the import scene alive is to get out there, go to meets, organize meets. Have fun evening cruises with a good group of people and keep things safe. Its a great way to show off your cars without having to worry about getting hurt/in deep shit.

thats just the problem i try to find groups that are into late night hang outs and cruises put its so spread out that when u try to form a group it just kind of falls apart because of the miles between everyone, and i looked into dsm clubs and i cant find any of them and i went to the site to sign up for the north eastern club but it wont let me cause of some website problems

#20 ·
I hear you about finding groups to hang with. The import scene in Iowa is.... yeah you get the idea. There are very few real enthusiasts, most are guys rockin big exhaust and big wings on their 1995 neons. I'd say just find whoever you can and try and network a bit and just keep adding more people as you get to them.

You are retarded.

Hmm...there are more normal accidents than there are street racing accidents? NO SHIT! That's because 99.5% of people driving on the streets are not racing, and 0.5% are racing. Maybe that's why there's more accidents for people who are not racing, jackass.

You're endangering other people when you're racing in heavy traffic. You cannot predict perfectly the behavior of every car around you. It's idiotic, and inconsiderate. Nobody thinks it is cool. I look at people who do that and laugh at how stupid they look. It doesn't take skill to weave in and out of traffic. Stop kidding yourself.

Personally, I don't race irresponsibly... it's not always on a track, but I know a number of near-deserted back roads with good visibility. Most of it is canyon running... something that takes quite a bit more skill than revving at someone in a CRX on the freeway or at a light. Slowing down when you have oncoming is a must, as is good road etiquette and established passing signals. The lack of population means that if someone screws up, only those involved in the race run the risk of injury.
It's not 'ballsy' to risk innocent bystanders. It's the work of an utter raving cocknose to decide that they're going to street-drag (95% of local 'racing') in an area that might contain sub-5-year-olds, and put them at risk... and that shit is what gives street racers a bad name.

well i am sorry for making a mistake and THINKING not gurenteeing it was an SRT4, so maby it wasnt. and about the whole street racing 2G6 wow, take er easy man. i didnt get over 50mph other cars going 40+ mph. and absolutly NO pedestrians. it wasnt a big deadly event like we were out to kill. i didnt go out to find a race but when someone pushes me to race ill do it, weather you agree with it or not.

This thread is fucking retarded. All of you know-it-all bench racers need to shut the fuck up and not respond to all the random Kill Story threads; you're just making yourself stupid and giving us veterans more of a reason to hate the newbies.

Besides blaze, no one in this thread has been on the board for more than 5 months--go figure.

Well if you, oh esteemed veteran of dsm forum posting, had read most of the posts, you would have seen that most weren't about bench racing. Most of them, from lowly DSMTalk newbies like myself, were trying to persuade a fellow DSM owner that racing in traffic is a bad idea.

If this board places emphasis on join date/post count over what each member brings to the board, I think I'm in the wrong place.

You are obviously excluded from the "newbies" I was referring to; all of your posts in this thread reflect that. Don't take offense because I included you in my post. There's always those few people that know what they're talking about; but if you look back on most of the posts written by the new members, you'll find a large amount of ignorant bullshit that plagues these forums--the exact things I was talking about; thus my generalization. If you knew you were in the right by not posting bench racing theories, there was no reason for you to post back attempting to bash me.
