Alright, to keep it short and sweet, my baby GSX won't stay running. It will crank up, run for a bit and drive a short distance. Then, before it dies something underneath the dashboard will click pretty loudly, and then it will just cut out. I've replace the ignition switch, the little thing that plugs into the ECU (forgot the name sorry) as well as the alternator and battery. Frustrating a bit, because I haven't driven it in a month, and I thought the engine would go first but what does? Stupid electrical shit.

Car is a 1991 Automatic Eclipse GSX. I'm on the stock Automatic ECU, dunno if that helps. Literally, I am the ONLY 1g GSX in pensacola so testing ECU's with someone else isn't an option. Any of you DSMTalk OG's, think you can help a poor girl out?? :p

Try another ECU.

I was afraid one of you would say that.

Oh well, I needed to swap it out for a 5-Speed ECU anyway...

Still annoying though.

If you swap it for a 5 speed ECU, be sure to put in 5-speed injectors.

I've got 560cc Evo injectors, a 2G MAF, and a wally 190lph ready to go in. =P If I get an EPROM ECU, I'm likely just to buy DSMLink right now and be done with it.

Can you pull the ECU and check the caps. It's almost as east as popping the radio bezel, removing 4 screws, and taking the radio out. The ECU is held in with like 2 10mm bolts. Open the case, like a few more screws.

Will do once someone comes over here to guard me. The neighborhood I'm in isn't exactly safe at night, especially for a girl by herself not paying attention to anything but her car.

Daaaaaammmn! That's nuts.

Usually I ask the girls to go easy on me.
They like to laugh and point at my junk.

Dont work on your car at night lady, it can wait until morning. Dont want to risk getting that West Nile from the mosquitoes and stuff, they already drove me in the house about a hour ago.

:p

I definitely wouldn't laugh at something that big. The turbo I mean

Yeah, my daddy came by and made me go back into the house as I was already outside pulling the ecu out. I told him he didn't have to, but he wouldn't leave me alone until I went inside and left him to do his work. He won't even let me watch him! :p :p

and lol @ EE. :p :p

Daaaaaaaaaaamn, that's nuts!
I wish. I would kill for a set-up like yours! :D

If I cant make a girl laugh because of my witty comments I at least have plan B to fall back on, drop my pants. :dunno:

At least you have someone there to keep you safe, I dont. With all the slack jawed yokels around here, I am afraid to get down to clean my exhaust real good for fear I may be taken advantage of.

Update.

He got the ECU out, and took it apart and everything seems fine..there's no burn marks, no melting, nothing seems to be appearing wrong at all. Nothing appears to be wrong. He checked the pulse to the injectors, and he has spark and all that, but he's not getting any pulse to the injectors.

Question: Would the CAS do this at all??

I believe the CAS could cause that. I believe that also controls injector timing. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

A bad injector resistor pack could cause injector problems.

Check to make sure the resister pack is plugged in all the way, mine comes loose every now and then during pulls making me think I popped my engine, only happened twice but scare the bajesus out of me each time.

Checking the resistor pack now. Would it be burned or something, if it was bad? Just curious if there was any external way to tell.

Sometimes they could I guess, I have never seen one bad though. Try unplugging it and replugging it in to make sure it is snug.

Ah, the resistor pack was plugged in nice and firm, and it didn't seem corroded or anything. Upon further inspection of the ECU, I notice a very small amount of clear brown stuff underneath one of the big black caps. It's not a boatload, or enough to see without a flashlight and the solder underneath the board looks melted in that spot too.

I'm not supposed to, but I keep wanting to think that if I buy a new ECU, that it won't fix it.

Oh well.

Thank you all for your help <3. I appreciate it boatloads. <3

Edit: Quick question, my Auto ECU appears to be an Eprom...it has the E on the lower right hand corner that Eproms do and everything, even has the chip that EPROM's do on the lower right hand corner of the board. Oh well, typical DSM part right? :p :p

Why buy a new ECU when you can get it fixed?

They should be able to help you, they repaired one of my ECU's one time when it was not reading coolant temps.
