Whats up everyone, my 4G63 short block should be here next week hopefully. I talked to the Manager of the parts dep. and he told me that the blocks that mitsubishi is putting out now are going to be remans. He also told me that 95-4G63s , 96-97 4G63s , and 98-99 4G63s have different parts numbers. Why would they do that? What are they hiding? 95-99 4G63s short blocks used to have the same part numbers. Well , i heard there was a fix to the killer crankwalk, they wont say what they did though.

What?

Mitsubishi arent making anymore new shortblocks? that sucks.

I got a shortblock from Mitsu for my 97, 4000miles on it and no problems yet. I was also told that they fixed the Crankwalk problem but who knows. just take it easy on the clutch.

The only thing that is really important in my mind anyway is the 6-bolt block found in 90-92 T\E\L. This is the only block that I would consider putting in a car whether it was a 1g or 2g. It has the “big” rods and that in conjunction with some 95 pistons will be more than enough motor for most people. The best “fix” for crank walk is to rip that motor out and put in a 6-bolt that is what Magnus and RRE does with customer cars. I haven’t heard of any fix other than that yet.

I guess they gave up make them because they suck.. I can't stand the fact that they willn't admit that crankwalk exist on our cars, and it outa control. Maybe the new 2003 lancers engine may look good in my car. What you think.:D

Hell yeah , i would love to have a lancer motor in my car. They look bad ass and perform the best out of all the 4G63s. But isnt the timing gears on the other left side opposed to the right side. I wonder how hard the install would be and if its really worth it. They have sweet valve covers though, hehe

A lancer motor and a 6 bolt motor are the same thing  slightly different internals, different manifold, and different turbo selection but other than that it is a 4g63. So if you want that bad ass lancer looking motor just open your hood.
That's exactly what I was thinking. I doupt the lancer coming here will be like the beast over seas, it probaly going to be de-tuned with a single turbo like the WRX. I would prefer a 2g eclipse looks wise anyday over a Lancer, just upgrade those turbo's and fuel systems.

Thats weird because lancer evolution 4, 5, 6, and 7 have the timing gears on the oppisite side of the engine. I'm sure they share some internal similarities, but externally the seem to be compleatly different.

I belive there is some act or law which requires manufacturers to produce parts for there cars for at least 10 years after the last one rolls off the assembly line, or is some other company just gonna make the short blocks?
Oh well I'll prolly end up buying a block and a few other components form a junkyard and build the motor if I ever need a new one.

Hummm.... NO.. You're wrong. :D Not all Lancer are 6-bolts. The engines internals are completly diffrent and so are the blocks.. I don't even know why Mitzu calles them 4G63???? But they do crankwalk too. I am asuming that mizu has fix them by now with the new evo 7 that comming to america. Yea..:D

Congrats on being wrong, there different internally, have diff compression, have always mounted wrong including 1-3 which have 3 tranny mounts and there is more.

Thats because the motor/trans is mounted the opposite way ;) The cam gears are still on the same end of the block. They flipped it all 180 in the earlier EVO (maybe 3?) to make weight distribution better.

1,2,3 still won't fit so what does this matter? Its obvious neways.

Easy tough guy ;) I was just explaining why the cam gears appeared to be on the "wrong side of the engine"... I made no reference to wether or not any of the evo motors fit. I could care less. :)

The Evo 7 uses a special turbo that has to be different than a 16G or Big 16G. It uses a Twin Scroll turbine housing to help it spool faster and they revised the compressor on the new Evo 7 from the Evo 6 for more torque . It may be related but it ain't your typical Mitsu turbo. It is a TDO5HR turbo with a titanium turbine wheel.:scholar:

I was quoted (for 1995) 2700 for a shortblock. I did bother to haggle or see if that was list, discounted, etc. I told them to screw. Thanks to some one trying to steal my car there I scammed the block and install for a grand. Labor was supposed to be an additional 1300...

evo 1-3 will drop into a 2G same motor mounts and turbos are single scroll 16G's

evo 4-7 have the engine turned 180 will not drop into any gen dsm without heavy modification. and have special twin scroll 16G's with variable(evo 5+) turbine nozles to 1 help low end spool and 2 maintain highend flow

if the blocks are now remans, that means mitsu is still providing parts, but you might as well spend that money getting a 6bolt block and having that rebuilt since that looks to be a much cheaper/sane idea.
