Let us know if you like the new site design, or if you prefer the old one better.

I like the old style and get rid of the ads.
Unfortunately, that's how we pay the bills. It comes down to:

No ads, no DSMtalk

Ads + DSMtalk

For those of you who have voted (or will vote) that you like the old site better, can you give me specifics so perhaps we can improve this skin. The old one cant come back, because the version of software we are running is totally different.

If you could, list the things about the old skin that you liked and missed, etc. and the things about the new skin that you dont like (besides the ads, of course)

For now, I'm heading to bed.

We need more color. I was just used to seeing alot of "blue" in the old setup. It was unmistakable that I was on DSMTalk. Now, it feels like I am just surfing on any other board. I am sure I would get over it, but spice up the background color a little bit - if you have been on LS1Tech you will know what I'm talking about. I love the new features but appearance makes a lasting impression. I am sure I will think of something else. :)

I am not hating on the ads since I understand the revenue helps keeping the place up and maintaining it. It was part of the reason I was a repeat donating member on the old Talk.

Skin choices....

I liked the grey/blue color scheme of the boards of old. Where the color sort of 'filled' in the empty spaces. Makes the forums look "finished". I am also thankful for all the effort that goes into maintaining these forums......

It still has the same good ole forum rooms which I'm very happy for i.e. PARTS REVIEW ONLY. I love that section. Helps me decide on what to buy. Great job with bringing back dsmtalk.

I like some of the old and some of the new. It's a mixed bag, the ads do suck and are intrusive, (it's kind of like lame ass AOL) but they have a known function that is important.

Classified ads (unless strictly controlled) and games are things that will attract people who don't want to talk cars or seriously contribute to this community. That's very bad. DSMtalk was what it was because of the people that were there for those reasons.

Change is good, as long as it produces quality information and contributing members. I will be surprised if any of the changes implemented will produce either.

Guess we'll see soon enough if the changes made induce good results or have people running back to lesser forums John. It would suck if the core membership bailed on you because you made some bad operating decisions that didn't involve the core moderating team's vote that personified what DSMtalk really was.

Probably should rename this place DSMtalk II.

Only time will tell I guess, but there's no way to know until you give it a try. Nothing is set in stone so we'll be able to make changes and adapt with what the majority of the userbase wants.

I consider myself a pretty hard core automobile fan, but a nice change of pace every now and again is always welcome (arcade) etc.

could be a good change. But im also not too big on the classifieds ads, or the addition of the 3si and evo forums (banner says 'Forums dedicated to the eclipse, talon and laser vehicles'). but its true, only time will tell.

Somehow this version seems hard to view and/or grasp.

New and read posts seem to blend together. The distinctive yellow on blue made the old version easier to see. Also the layout somehow was easier.

Also...I guess I'm just being stupid...but where is the "mark as read" button?

Navigation should be at top and bottom of the threads (just above the first and last post, ar at least some way to get back to the main index and/or the section where the thread is located in.

Well, definetly the DSM represents all Mitsubishi cars in the US... I think we can find it in our hearts to have a small section for the 3/S and Evo, just like we have room for the Lounge and other sections that arent specifically Eclipse/Talon/Laser related.

Sure, we're dedciated to that, but there's always room for close family?

Threads are marked as read by default when you visit them.

You can use this "text" at the top to jump around:
Code:
DSM Forums > DSM Talk News & Polls > DSM talk Polls
Reload this Page New site design or old one?
The text are hyperlinks to their respective sections.

There is a forum "Jump" menu at the bottom of the thread as well.

i just assume a DSM board be dedicated to strictly that. i dunno. i also noticed the arcade i dont care for. I think it just feels a little too much like its trying to become the 'happening place with games and tons of forums'. Just worried might bring in too many of the wrong people and create a forum thats next to impossible to weed out the terrible, mis-informed, ridiculous posts.

The moderator team is still dedcated to keeping that from happening. We are discussing this now in the admin section as we speak.

1) I understand that they are marked read when visited. But sometimes I just don't want to visit every thread but look through their subjects and mark as read without looking into each thread.

2) I've seen the links on top...however they seem detached from the thread. And navigation at the bottom (same as on top) would make navigation more convenient, as the bottom is where you normally end up after reading a thread....and thats when you want to move on....unleass you decide to reply to something...

just my 2 cents

You can mark all posts in any individual forum read, but you cant mark individual threads as read unless you visit them.

The above option is under the "Thread Tools" menu. There are different functions available depending on if you are inside a thread, or a forum.

oh...ok...found it...and also the mark forums read button...as said earlier...things just seem harder to find unless you know where to look for stuff.

anyway...if I might add just one more suggestion....I would reshufle the head something like this because in my mind this would make navigation easier:
