No Boost, whining sound!

If i get on the throttle at all I get a loud whining sound, kind of like a super charger. I cant see any visable hoses unplugged. I checked my coolant overflow because I thought I might have a leaky headgasket. The coolant is nice and green. Looks really good. I also checked my dipstick for any coolant in with the oil but I didnt see any. If I hit the gas (WOT). I get max of 0psi. So I either have a huge leak somewhere or is it possible if I had a blown head gasket I wouldnt produce any boost? I took the car around town for a while and came home and lifted the hood. I couldnt see any leaks but I could smell something sweet like coolant. Any ideas? I am really hurting here.

Also I didnt start having the whining sound and 0 boost until about 3 days ago when I really got on the car pretty hard. I then came home and was gonna give it a little gas and all I hear is a whining noise but 0psi.

Is there anyway to test to see if my BOV is stuck open? I checked both my lower an upper intercooler piping and they are both solid without any leaks. I also checked my BOV dump tube and that looks fine as well. Is there any hoses on the driver side thats that critical?

Actually I have a boost leak IC Pipe Tester and a air compressor. Where do I hook the leak down tester to pressurize the system? I have heard that I need to hook it to the intake pipe from my turbo. Where is this exactly? Do they mean unplug my upper IC hose where my intake manifold is and pressurize the system from there? I really dont want to mess anything up.

Thanks.

Yup my Big16G had some major shaft play. I almost got done ripping out my 16G but there is one more bolt holding it on. I am going to finish uninstalling my 16g and put the stock 14b back in. What a pain. However, I feel a 50trim is in order. :D

first you should test the turbo...test it for shaft play by spinning the turbine..if that seems fine(but i doubt it will) than do the leak test.
do the boost leak test either way. if the turbo is messed up..just hook the leak tester to the lower intercoolerpipe(the pipe connecting to the turbo) and test it through there. that way you can find out if you have a boost leak in your pipes and if your BOV is messed up.

Dunno if you figured it out yet, but I had the same problem. Turned out it was the connection between the turbo outlet and the lower intercooler pipe.

I felt all cool running around with a supercharger/big turbo sounding 14b for an hour. Then it got old.

My blades were actually hitting the housing on my turbo. It was defiantly the turbo. I put my stock turbo back in.. 14b with like 120 miles on it. Lets just say it only lasted like 2 blocks. It seemed like I hit fuel cut or something and my turbo died. I just hope I didnt mess up my engine. I am gonna rip my 14b apart again tomorrow or the next day and see if the turbo seized.

What a mess... No fluid leaked on the ground either just incase your wondering.. Just some smoke from the exhaust manifold. I guess thats what it is. The thing you mount the turbo to. The 4 bolts... Smoke was coming from out of there pretty bad. I either fried another turbo or worse. Hopefully my old turbo just went bad.

If your 14B did not have shaft play, and it still grenaded..then you may not be getting any oil to the turbo. Killing two turbo's in a row often suggests checking the oil feed line to make sure nothing is clogged up. Also, where does your oil pressure needle usually ride on the gauge?

Oil pressure is about half way. The oil pressure line looked fine. I think the person before me went to the 16g because the 15b grenaded once before. I had no idea what type of condition it was in. I was just trying to get away with using the old turbo for a couple weeks if I could.
