I started having this trouble a few weeks ago. What happens is if I am going slow and then try to floor it in 2nd or 3rd gear and I'm at a low rpm the car is very sluggish and won't accelerate. But, if I take off fast in 1st gear then shift the car does fine. Or, if I hold the clutch in and let the rpm's get to around 3500 I don't have a problem. I changed plugs and wires and that helped the frequency but it still does this occasionally. I recently installed a Joe P MBC(set to 12 psi) and I thought the increased boost was causing timing problems so I turned it way down and I still had the problem. My friend suggested I lower the gap on the spark plugs. Anyone have any suggestions? I am a beginner at this so please excuse my lack of knowledge. Thanks

the 4G63 motor (depending on the generation) runs either 7.8:1 or 8.5:1 compression. Running an engine with low compression at that low of an RPM will obviously make it accelerate slower. The only reason you're accelerating quicker in first gear is because the gear ratio is a LOT shorter than 2nd, or 3rd.
