yeah, if you pull out the interior rear penels, you'll see they look like they should be 6x9's, but they're 6.5's. Stay with them! I've tried 6x9's out and you dont get as good response and sound. The doors easily can take 6.5's (Got the idea from verserv) and I was going to work on fabrication, but I'm getting a spyder in the fall, and I dont drive my DSM in the winter- that's what SUV's are for (my baby does like to play in the snow though! :) ) Also note that the front speakers in the doors and dash are stock 8ohm- so they come out to be in parallel 4ohm. If your deck is stable at 2ohms, better to you, replace both and run some nice ones in the doors and dash. But the rear 6.5's to the doors, the front doors to the (trash) and new dash ones as well. Then get as big a pair of 6.5"s that you can find, something with like 50watts or so (dont worry about 4 way or any of that - you want bass response) and you should be pretty well off. After all, the bass should come from below and behind, the high end from the dash for a proper sound stage.

What the hell are these "Aura Bass shakers" I saw them things and I'm thinking they're a round vibrator. Do they work? Cause you could mount those things inside the frame of the front seats in the lower back pretty easily, and that'd be cool... If they work that is.

true

yeah true it should be all in front, but that's sound wierd with nothing from behind, and good bass basically fills the entire space and you cant really tell it's origin, more or less that's what I mean, but you can easily tell where I trumpet is playing, but you cant tell where a cannon shot off, being it's loud enough. I saw a DSM (a 93 1.8L) with kick panels in the front that each had an 8inch sub and then the 6.5"s in the doors, 4" in dash, and 1" tweeters in the pillars. Nice looking, but with the 2 12's in the back the bass and low end sounded strange, you got the same sound but it was distorted and you could hear the difference between the 2 12's and 8's. But if you didnt want to sacrifice trunk space on a spyder, for example (like myself because I like a trunk) what about an 8" in each kick panel, and 6.5" in the doors, and an 8"s in the rear speakers... heh. That'd be a POS to do, but that might work decently - might. :) But I'm getting a spyder in a few months, and am trying to figure out where there's free space inside it to put a pair of 10's. There's some... somewhere...

Here's a quick question for ya, what would you reccomend in 6.5's that have really good base response for the size? I could drive anything I put in there, amps are no prob, but I dont know if I want Infinity, Pioneer, Alpine etc. Because I'd like some nice bass from those doors. What would you say for 6.5's?

:) RippinGSX. Gotta love AWD. Orion's huh? I'm gonna go take a look at their site, see if I find something. The 8's were bad in the doors? That does figure though, because you're almost running the thing open-air, I wouldnt quite call the door an enclosure. Not to mention that door isnt the strongest piece of steel in the world, so that really dosent suprise me. That is pretty high for your wattage in front! But hey, if it sounds good, it sounds good :)

Rippin - What did you use for the plates to mount the 6.5's? Also did you get rid of the "cup" that is in the door that holds the speaker, or did you alter it? Let me know, I may head out later today and grab 4 6.5's for my front and rear and install them tonight! :)

But they definatly look like they pack a pretty heft punch for some little 6.5's! (compared to like the stock ones in rear handling a max of like 40watts)
