What a night and what a rush! A huge thanks to Paul Volk, 99gst_racer for lending me his 26" Hoosier QTP's on Motegi Traklite 2's!

No changes were made to the car other then the wheels/tires from my 11.812 @ 115.69 from two nights ago. That pass was on 16" stock gst wheels and Toyo Proxes 4's in 225x50x16.

I was nervous as all get out for the first pass. I'd never launched on slicks and wasn't sure what to expect. Pressures were at 12 psi rear and 12.5 fronts, we had planned on starting with them higher but that's what they were set at and I wasn't chasing down an air compressor. I raised my launch rpm to 5500 and got in the lanes.

11.572 @ 116.12
1.609 60'
7.363 @ 92.72 1/8th

I was so excited, I laughed my way all the way back to my parking spot! I knew that was good enough for #5 on the 14b list w/out nitrous! I was surprised that the tires broke loose on the launch so I decided to try launching at 5250 which was my setting for the street tires. The track was ice cold, all passes were in the mid 50's and just about everyone I heard from said they were having a hard time getting traction. Still that 1.60 felt unbelievable! My accessory belt was squealing upon starting the car back up, it was way loose, tightened it up and headed back to the lanes.

1.635 60'
7.444 @ 91.55 1/8th

Pass felt good, very little tire spin off the line, but there just wasn't enough oomph to make the 60 foot happen. Something felt goofy with the clutch though, nothing I've experienced before. Still was nice to back up the first pass. With the clutch acting weird I told Paul I would "go for broke" and turn the launch up to 6000 and see what happens. Quick adjustment with Link and back to the staging area.

The launch was all kinds of squirrely! You can't really see it in the video but it felt much more dramatic in the car! I was counter steering both directions to keep it going straight down the track and banged second to stop the madness! I knew the pass was good though and I had a smile all the way to the ticket booth.

7.332 @ 92.35 1/8th

So it wasn't enough to move me past Dave Womer to go up the list, but that's ok I was psyched with the passes tonight. Still something very strange with clutch engagement driving back to my parking spot so I knew that was the last pass. After sitting for maybe an hour and cooling down the car, I drove home with the strange clutch engagement gone. It had to be from heating the crap out of it. It felt grabby with a little clunk through the drivetrain upon engagement. Oh well, it was a $50 used ACT 2600 clutch I picked up 3 years ago! I'll look into replacing that, making sure everything else is healthy, and looking into my own wheels and slicks for next year. No more passes for 2012 as I'm very happy with the car and I don't want to risk the clutch when I have to drive home from the track.

Also of note, with that rediculously light wheel/slick combo the car weighed in on the scales at 2595lbs. with me in it! I'm going to see if Paul can weigh the wheel/tires so I can get an estimate of what my car weighs on the streets, but overall that's quite a bit lighter then I expected!

Huge thanks to my supporters! You guys gave me the tips, tricks, and parts to run this kind of time on the 14b! Thanks! Special shoutout to DSMLoki, this car was first assembled in his garage and his sweat and perhaps a little blood is still on this car somewhere! It was awesome that he was there last night to witness this!

Thanks, Ha ha! I've got to update alot of signatures on different boards! Feels really good right now, proud of what I/the car have accomplished. I'm done for this year, but hopefully I can afford the proper changes to repeat and get quicker next year.

Congratulations that's an awesome time period, then factor in the fact you did it on a 14b and it's quite the accomplishment.

I still laugh (at myself mostly) When I see something like this. My goal is just a flat 12sec pass and I have an MHI Evo III16g, and i'm still no where near gettting there. Might help if I had left the FMIC on and not put the stock catback back on the car huh?

Holy shitfuck shane I am so proud of you! I couldn't believe at first that it was your car when I saw that 11.57 run. I told my friend that was with me "That car looks just like my buddy shane's but he isn't running slicks yet and I'm not sure he's dropped 3 tenths in the last week." I can't wait to see what she does next season.

Thanks Mike! I almost texted you on the way there but figured it was friday night so you'd be busy. It was really cool that you ended up being there. I "predicted" that I should drop 2 tenths on the slicks. Ended up dropping .271 and not even coming close to the full potential 60's. Of course I didn't really factor in the difference of turning 60lbs. less of rotating mass either!

Very nice times. More proof that the 14b isn't just the "while I build my setup" turbo. Keep it up! Someday I hope to get my FWD laser near those times... A boy can dream.
