Well as some people know I drive a boosted 420a 1997 RS.
Iam looking for a AWD turbo setup now. Iam looking at both the 1g and 2g gsx and tsi talons.
Can anyone list the Pro's and Con's of both models.
I know the 2g is Heavier
What about crankwalk? I had a 1997 gst and it crankwalked on me Iam not looking forward to that again.

I will be buying a shell and building from the ground up this will not be a DD and will be strictly race. Looking for 400-550 whp.

Thnx alot

Re: Lookin for another dsm

This will probably be locked as this looks like a WTB (want to buy) ad.

I'd rephrase your questions as to not put out there that you're wanting to buy something.

I'd provide a list for you of the pros and cons, but I'm tired and need to finally get to bed. Please search and you will find your answer.

If your answer hasn't been posted by the time I come back, I'll post the answer.

Re: Lookin for another dsm

Not looking to buy I already have found 4 Shells for my project I just need to figure out which shell is going to be my best bet. Gonna do a built 2.3 stroker shortblock. But not sure which one 6 bolt or 7 bolt or which shell will give me the best advantage.

I like the suspension setup on the front of gen 2's. Weight in stock form is only 100 pounds difference. I don't think 1st gens have Viscous coupler in the rear stock but I could be wrong. The rear end in a first gen will take more abuse though. Put a locker in it and I'll bet it is not such a difference. gen 2's usually have less rust. 95's have an eprom ECU that allows you to tune easy. Gen 2 MAF sensors flow more air before over run. Base fuel pressure is lower on a 1st gen so I would think that would have some difference in how the injectors pop off. In my book Higher pressure is better. There is more.

Honestly I would build either. There are more ridiculously fast 1st gens out there.

I think I will be building a 2g maybe a GST My buddy in town has a 1997 gst with fresh built 2.3 stroked motor, just needs valves, timing chain, bumpers doors sideskirts and a seat and some wheels and breaks it is already caged and fuel cell in the hatch. He is asking 4k is that a decent price? for a gst with a built 2.3 stroker motor. Oh also needs injectors , turbo , fuel rail, manifold for intake and exhaust, suspension.

Sorry for being half awake I confused myself on my last post. Working 3rds lol.

Ok what I ment was, should I try to get ahold of the built block *2.3 stroker* that he has or will the stock block hold quite a bit on the 4g63.

Go with a 1g, you won't be disapointed, i have owned and built both, and i will NEVER own another 2g, probably the worst seating position of any car i have ever driven, a world of suspension problems in the front, not to mention the EXTREMLY cheap made interiors, the 1g is more of a fine tuned peice of machinery, and the 2g was made for looks, and for girls to buy. I prefer the looks of a 1g myself.

I own a 2g but he's right. I'd rather have one of each but money is tight...

As for a stroker FWD.... :bash: If you like doing burnouts then..uh... go for it. Traction will be an issue. Go all wheel. It really somes down to personal preference. I'd rather work on a 2g but that's b/c I own one and am more comfortable working on it but it's not much diferent than a 1g. I'm sure any 1g owner would say they like 1gs better. If you're just going for the fastest car possible, 1g is for you. If you like 2gs, go for it. Either way go AWD and go 6 bolt.

Don't do either a 1g OR a 2g. Slap a stroker motor in a Dodge Colt, make it AWD, and then take a hammer to the body. After that, half-ass spray auto-zone primer on it, and enjoy destroying everything at the track. Be sure to cover it with TRD stickers! :p

At least, that's what I would do. Since it's not going to be street driven.

But if you just ABSOLUTELY want either a 1g or 2g and NOTHING else, go 1st Generation. Preferably 1Ga Talon. Gotta love those pop-ups.

I agree with both of steves comments.

Go GSX or you will regret it. Which would you rather have? cutting 1.6 60 foots with slicks on the front or cutting 1.6 60 foots on street tires, dropping that to 1.3-1.4 on slicks all around.

AWD is about 300 lbs heavier than a FWD but it has much more advantages which I think really out weigh the weight.

1g's are lighter than 2g's. I think the laser was the lightest running around 2850.
