Racing Protocol?

After a few recent street encounters, I started to wonder if we have any set protocol for the after-race. We all probably set things up the same way for a causal roll-race on the highway. But, what about after the show is over? Do you take the time to give your opponent the thumbs-up, or do you just keep on cruising? I’m taking about a win or lose situation, so what’s your move?

Here’s mine…

Win = tap the brakes, let you catch up, smile and give you the peace sign…

Lose = roll up, give you the thumbs up, and a printed copy of my excuse list…

1. Boost leaks
2. Running rich
3. Left my laptop at home
4. The sun was in my eyes

Its hard to say cause there has been a couple times when I gave a thumbs up and the other person was just a dick head "win or loose" I still do give a thumbs up but damn I hate soar loosers or cocky fucks.

I’ve noticed most people around here tend to ignore you, after you hand them their ass for some reason. The person who was staring me down and revving at me a minute ago, is now driving like he’s wearing a neck brace. Maybe it’s embarrassment, or a shattered ego, or just plain old bad racing manners

+1 but I have met alot of cool people and even pulled over and chatted for a bit. Now everytime I see them I throw a peace sign since there are alot of gear heads out where I'm at.

^^^ Or they are on their way home to tell Mommy and Daddy that the car they bought for him is crap and he wants a new one whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Yeah, that’s probably it…the cheap pricks should have bought him a faster car…

Here’s another annoying character: The guy who thinks he would like to race, but only if he can win, and impress his friend in the passenger seat.

I just had a kid in a Civic Si turn to stone on me the other day. I guess he noticed me rolling up on him, and he got all excited and floored it. I’m thinking hey, if you want to go, at least wait for me to get somewhat close to you. So anyway, I just stay back about three cars and pace him until we hit 100mph. Then I punched it, reeled him in a little, then let off and paced again. At this point he slows down a little, slides over into the right lane, settles in at 70mph, and I’m thinking it’s on. So, I ease up next to him, go down a gear, and then look over to see if he’s ready. But guess what? He’s frozen in place like a statue, eyes glued to the road, and both hands on the wheel. I goose it once just in case he doesn’t notice I’m waiting for him. Nothing, no movement at all, luckily the road was dead straight, or he would have hit something by now. His driver’s window is wide open, and at this speed/rpm my green sounds like a jet waiting to take off. I get annoyed with the lack of testosterone, punch it and drive away shaking my head.

Does this ever happen to anyone else?

Thats what always happens around here where i live in Alberta. You smoke anyone and they turn into a granny driver sitting at the limit or below and wont look over for the life of them. Pisses me off even if I do win I still like to salute or thumbs up.

Agreed gents... agreed. Tonight I paced/killed a Lancer OZ. Since it is a Mitsu I did a gentleman's approach, wound it up to about 90 mph then let him go. It was a rolling start so I dont know what to tell ya, I heard his mivec wind up just before I hit 5k on the tach so he was there the whole time but I slowly pulled away so the kill is mine. We pull up to a stop light and he just looks at me for a brief second until he realizes I am looking back at him with a big sh!t eating grin. He snaps his head back to center and drives away like ol grannie! I am like WTF? No respect I tell ya.

I was cruising with my mom behind me as she was following me to my apartment in Texas when I lived there and an EVO pulled up to me and was revving it and doing little pulls and letting off to get beside me again. He waved me on and I shook my head "No" as I wouldn't have heard the end of it from my mom because she is very strict about stuff like that. After the 3rd shake of my head he flipped me off and took off. I kept thinking, "what a douchebag thing to do". Haven't had anything happen like that again since though.

V8's are the worst though. I cant count how many times a Stang or Camaro got stomped and acted like a 2.0 didnt just smoke his big displacement V8.
I agree it seems like around here the big boys with the V8's lose like little girls. They cant even look or even worse sometimes they do an american muscle ;) flyby.

LMFAO in Alberta the majority of guys drive pickup trucks with diesel horsepower kits and about 6 inches of lift. Maybe compensating for something? Perhaps. They are the most funny to kick the crap out of because they get so damn pissy about it. I had one douchebag pull up behind me, get out of his truck, and tap on my window. He wasn't a large fellow, so all 6'7" of me stepped out of my car and he ran away. What a pussy!

Anyone ever get shit from DSM haters?

I was cruising home from work the other day, when I spot a Civic hatch coming the other direction. He must have seen me first, because his passenger was giving me the finger for at least a hundred yards before they passed by. I thought it was kind of funny, so I just laughed at their piece of shit flat black Honda as it passed by. I’m guessing it was just someone screwing around, or maybe just a little jealously surfacing. I can’t wait until the next time I catch him heading in my direction. I’ll make sure to give him a few more reasons to hate me ;)

My favorite is when someone pulls up next to you drops a gear and gives it a little gas. You do the same thing to let them know you are interested...then it happens...the sound catches their ear...a BOV....your fucked. They slow down and your left with that feeling like blue balls.

And RS-t.....Does your car look like a stock RS? Because if it does I will laugh at that evo owner for even wanting to mess around with you. lol Dont get me wrong, I think it's cool to make it a total sleeper...but think about it...how often do you actually see a RS-t?

Only sign was I had a big FMIC in the front. I was lowered on stock 16" rims and all he saw was a side view. I thought he was a dumbass for even wanting to because my car isn't screaming "performance" really.

the worst is when you stomp someones ass then go back to the lot and come to find out the guy you raced had already told everyone he beat you.

Yeah, I meant that your car looked like your typical non-turbo (besides the fmic which he didnt see) and it was foolish of him to try and pick on a "non-turbo" like that.

Grrrr, find them and bitch slap them, their GF, their dog, and the idiot that sold them the car. Total lame assed douchebags! :wall:

It depends.

I used to be a dick and gave thumbs down to people I beat. Latly if they give a challange ill give a thumbsup. If I loose ill give a thumbsup unless the person is a dick.

If we come to a stop ill ask what their mods are. And others I just keep my windows up and dont really pay attention.

Civic drivers seem to be the worst for me. Me and a friend(16g 98 awd) line up with a civic hatch that had a gsr with a built head on it. As the light was still red, both my friend and the hatch take off. So I wait then take off, catch the hatch in 1st and right at my friends back bumper, we both had at least 8 or 9 cars on this civic.

Next weekend rolls around and there is a bunch of us cruising to the meetup spot and the same civic pulls up to me, we do a 1st gear roll, I missed second, so i stopped racing and just cruised on his ass. We stop and he comes up to me and starts talking shit, calling me car, and saying that he couldnt let me think I won the last time.

shit was a joke, makes me pissed typing about it.
