my wheels in the back are butterflying like crazy and i want to know what do i have to do in order to make it straight again?
oh yeah and here is a stupid question......i hit a 13.7 while my tires were butterflied on my 91 gsx.....and i want to know if my time would be better if i fixed my butterflying problem.....any help or opinions would be greatly apreciated....thanks

What exactly is "butterflying"? Excessive toe-in or excessive camber? You can adjust the toe-in by the eccentric bolts of the trailing arms and the camber by the eccentric bolts of the upper control arms. Best done by alignment shop.

by butterfly i mean that the rims are tilted like this / \ ....
thats the best i can show you guys..........imagine that the slashes are my rims...........my rear rims........sorry i dont realy know too much about suspensions and stuff......

so your wheels are toed in exessively, you can easily adjust that. I would get an alignment done with a hunter electronic machine those are the best and most accurate.

yeah someone had mentioned me gettting a camber kit.....for my problem but i would know how to install it or whatever im supposed to do.....how much would a camber kit cost?

It depends on how much your car is lowered. If it stock or lowered no more than 1.5-2" the alignment shop should be able to correct the camber with no camber kit needed. The 4-wheel alignment will run you around $100 (depends on the shop). I'd recommend staying away from any big chain shops such as Tires Plus, Goodyear, etc. Try to find a privately owned alignment/tire shop with Hunter alignment machine.

I paid about $125 for my alignment. It was more than your typical job b/c I gave them the specs I wanted and they got it as close as possible, needed to use crash bolts though.

Ironically I went to a Goodyear Gemini shop. The only reason is b/c one tech is an avid autoXer and a friend of mine gets his alignments done there as well, also another autoX guy.

so if i get mine aligned, would it improve my times, alot of people said that it would help alot. and also it would have less stress on the motor because it wouldnt have to work as hard to get the car moving........

i've gotten all my suspension work done at my fathers tires plus shop, and no problems yet, except that my car was too low for their alignment rack, so they had to take it to a different one, no biggie to me..:dunno: and of course i get some nice discounts too...

it would think it will, because the way it is runing right now......it is like this / \ which means it is running on its tips thus only allowing a certain amount of grip. if the tires were like this | |
than it would have more surface to ground ratio's (more grip)
your probibly right though, but it would help with the launching sequence.........

Are you spinning the back tires when you launch? If not it will have 0 effect on your acceleration (TECHNICALLY it might hurt do to increased rolling resistance and friction:p
