recirculating hose replacement???

okay long story short.

I got a full upper innercooler pipe and a greddy type RS installed the other day. I tryed to vent. failed. i stall out striaght up. boom stall. would tighten up the bov adjustment help this?

well because it's a aftermarket pipe, bov, and intake pipe (injen) the stock hose doesn't reach. its just like 1 or 2 inches too short. so to stock from stalling i had to find a hose to fit. i ended up using some radiator hose. and now i don't stall.

the problem is raidator hose is pretty solid stuff, and now i can't hear the bov for ****. i mean its probably 80% of what it was stock. I feel like i wasted a bunch of time and money, and didn't even get any sound. what direction of adjusting would be best? hard or soft? i really have no idea how to adjust the bov. a link to a guide would be great.

i was wondering if anyone has any ideas on something else to use for the hose? something thinner? should i try home depo? any ideas, thoughts, or suggestions would be helpful.

Well for one no matter what you do, if you try and vent to the atmosphere on the stock MAS you will always stall... The only way to get around it is to get something like DSMlink, EMS or VPC. Any tuning device that uses anything other than a MAS.

you could always try using a hard pipe for recirculating your BOV cut part of the radiator house as couplers to the bov and to the intake pipe and then connect the hard pipe in between..ive been thinking of doing something like this..ive also seen it done a couple times before..you hear your BOV better but its still recirculating which is what you want..

Not trying to disagree, but I wanted to add that when I ran my RFL, I never stalled or had idle problems...I was the strange one :p ....Also, you can't use DSMLINk to compensate for a vented bov; yet

If you got the RS, did you get the supplied bov return kit? That might be long enough, don't know, but it will at least allow you to hear your bov...

Another way would be a custom fabbed pipe...I've seen it done often...Use a homeade coupler (small part of the rad hose) on both sides, and in the middle use a hard piping 1-1.5" metal hose....Sounds should be much more audible...

The resonating hard piping UICP and INtake should help out too

No. If your bov was open at idle this would have an effect but not at wot release.

Who cares? I would worry more about it working correctly than sounding like a party favor. You want the bov to be stiff enough to hold shut at your max boost level but not much more or you will surge at lower boost lifts of the throttle.

I think in this case tho, he bought the RS, in part, b/c of the specific sound...If he had no interest, he probably would've sprung for a crushed 1g...

Try making your own out of hard piping and the sound should come back...Just don't expect it to be as audible as an unrecirc. bov....I can only hear my 1g bov after 5k rpm, but it is semi audible, so no worries....

I was having a hard time finding a hose to recirculate my Type-S that's at a weird angle, and found the solution in an old vacuum cleaner I had in my basement. The hose is the perfect size, and can bend at any angle you need it to. The sound decreased a little from VTA, but the gains in overall engine smoothness and performance was well worth it. Just thought I'd let you know.

yeah i think the problem is the radiator hose i used isn't the most flexable thing, and it kinked a little bit in 2 paces. this stops the air was splashing off the intake. i got reconmended on an other forum to get a flex hose with a metal coil on the inside of it from NAPA. this way i have no kinks, and the air can flow free.

i am worried about it working correctly, that is why i bought it with the recirculating kit.

The idea was from the thread Chicago posted...thanks again. I've been wanted to do it for a while now and forgot where that thread was. It took all of 15 minutes of cutting, trimming, fitment test, and then calling it a day.
The piping gave me a lot of play room and fit better than the radiator hose that was on it.

no trying to thread jack but i got a quick question... what about for example a full bov and plug kit... even if you use a plug on the intake... would you still get the idle surge and stalling issues?
you have to plug the intake no matter what..try running the car without the intake plugged and see what happens..but even plugging the intake like you have to wont stop the stalling problem..it all has to do with venting with the mas..read up on that

I just wanted to post my findings on this free mod. I've noticed a sharper sound to the bov...not as muffled as with the radiator hose. It does make a sound difference and it did get a bit louder...I like the cleaner and crisp sound it now has.

I dont see why people spend so much money on something that just makes sounds. Now of course once you start boosting high its necessary, but it doesnt sound like this is the case. 200 bucks can buy you a 14b or can be a start for buying a 16g. Oh well. v___v
